Chandipur Beach is situated near the Balasore district in the state of Odisha. It is an unusual sea beach and called ‘Vanishing Sea’ which means the seawater periodically disappears right in front of your eyes and then comes back at high tide. You believe it or not, the strange natural phenomenon occurs here every day. The sea-water goes back up to 5 kilometers twice a day during low-tide, leaving behind only the shells. When the seawater return, it brings horseshoe crabs and red crabs, which otherwise live further from the beach. This literally gives the opportunity to walk deep into the actual seabed. In fact, when you walk on the beach when it has receded, only your feet get submerged into the shallow water and get surrounded by moist sand; so if you take a picture from afar, it looks as if you are actually walking on water.
