Ooty Lake is on the different side of the town close to bus stand and railway station. This is an artificial lake built in early 19th century. This is a typical lake we see in any hill station. The boat house situated on one side of the lake offers various boating facilities like paddle boats, row boats and steam boats. All through our trip I have been searching for a fridge magnet. A fridge magnet is a souvenir for all my travels. I get atleast one of them to any tourist place I travel to. I was disappointed to find that there are no fridge magnets available in the whole of ooty, coonoor and wellington.
Our last stop on this wonderful journey was the most popular Ooty Lake and the destination that was actually situated closest to our Hotel :P The lake also has a boat house attached to it which makes boating one of the prime attractions of the lake throughout the year. At the boat house in the premises, you can either pay for motor boat rides or hire a paddle boat or rowing boat as per your convenience. Make sure to reach there by 5:30 pm if you wish to do boating, as they start closing it by 5:45 pm.
On Sunday we planned to go to Coonnor. Due to shortage of time, we could not visit. But its a must go for others whomsoever visiting Ooty. Its a lovely pace in the Nilgiris. So we thought of visiting the other local places and start our journey towards Bangalore. Ooty is famous for home made chocolates and tea and coffee planatations. So if you are visiting ooty, you should get some chocolates from there as these are quite different from the ones we get it in the shopping malls
5 .Ooty Lake A place famous for boating. This place has all kinds of boats - motor boat , row boats , pedal boats etc. A 4 seater pedal costs INR 290 for 30 minutes . I personally didn't like this place for many reasons. One, the place was extremely crowded. You have to stand in line for almost everything. Two, the entire place smells like horse shit ( Obviously , due to the horse riding available there). Three, even the water smelled weird and because of that , life jackets too.
