Day 1

Chennagiri hills are very close to Nandi hills.

We chose the Sultanpet trail to trek this hills. We started to trek at 6.45 AM from Sultanpet entry point. There is a board informing trespassers are not allowed. But fortunately, no guards were there to stop us. We proceeded.

The trail was clear. I was so excited and absorbed about trek that I didn't think of taking pictures until I saw this beautiful flower after almost reaching half of the uphill.

The trail we took some times has open sky and sometimes covered with shady trees and tall grass. It was scary for me when we are covered. But I always feel liberated after the end of the trek

We reached the top of the mountain by 9.30 AM as we stopped wherever it was scenic on the way. Otherwise, it won't take that much time.

It is a rarely used trail to trek. All the way it's quiet. I heard so many new sounds of birds and insects. I guessed the top of the hill to be more tranquil.

But to my surprise when on the top there is a big crowd. Hanuman temple and Omkareshwar temple on the peak is the reason for this crowd. These people trekked from different routes. We came to know there are four routes to climb this hill.

Hanuman temple

There is a small water body close to hanuman temple.

Omkareshwar temple has a beautiful pond

There are small fishes in this pond. People are feeding fish and taking free foot massage. I too tried.

We saw people having food that they have carried from home. It looked like they have come to eat here. They were all locals. A group of people were preparing tea. They offered a tasty tea to us. Some were collecting the trash and burning it. I felt happy that they are caring for the place too.

After taking some pictures on top, started trekking down.

Thought of taking different trial than the one which we took to come up. Started trekking down the southern side of the hills which is Sadhumata side.

This side trail it's mostly rocky. Tried climbing a few big rocks on the way. I never did this.

Sitting on top and looking down from the edge of rock made me feel how small we are and how smaller our whatever concerns we have. I felt very calm and enjoyed the serenity of the place and moved on.

Walking up, on a Rockhill is effortless for me. But walking down on Rockhill is too scary. I used my hands also when I was trekking down in Kumarparavata. This time, I dared to do it with legs alone. I realised it's not that difficult as I thought. I felt thrilled after I have done it.

We have come across a small water stream on the way where locals were eating food on their way back home.

Stopped there for a while to relax our feet in the water.

There is small water storage nearby stream and a big tree. I felt amazed at how nature made it so scenic.

From there we trekked down with locals. They were very friendly. There is a 63-year-old lady in that group and is trekking down quite effortlessly. She was very caring. Asked us when we had food, do we have water with us. Was suggested to us that we should always carry food and water to such places. Her care moved me for a moment.

After trekking down for a while to our surprise, we found a small waterfall. I was hesitating to get into the water as I didn't have an extra pair of dress. But I don't want to miss an opportunity to experience indulging in such a tiny waterfall. Nothing can make you come alive than a water wash.

Though the sun is hot, wet clothes made me feel pleasant and trekking down completed around 2 PM and became enjoyable.

Before this trek, Kumarparavata trek was a memorable trek for me. Now, this trek too added to the list.
