If you are heading off on a desert trip, then you have much to look forward to. Of course, apart from taking plenty of water to stay hydrated, you need to be prepared too and these tips will help.

As you would expect, the desert is going to be hot and dry so wearing light comfy clothing is key be it shorts, tops, t-shirts, shirts or baggy pants. Bring a shawl or scarf too in case of sand blowing around; also have a light jacket if going out after sunset since the temperatures can drop.

Adequate Sun Protection

You will need plenty of sun protection including an effective broad-spectrum sunscreen that’s SPF 30 or more; make sure you reapply it regularly too. Additionally, bring a good pair of sunglasses as well as a wide-brimmed hat, cap or a bandana at the very least.

Be Prepared for Activities

You may not realise that there is much to do in the desert than just admire its sand-filled beauty! For example, if you decide to stay at an Oman desert hotel in the Wahiba Sands, you can look forward to adventure-filled activities like sunset camel safaris, dune bashing, sandboarding and quad biking.

Slippers or Flip-Flops Are Best

When it comes to walking along the desert, slippers or flip-flops are ideal since you can easily dust off the sand from them and your feet. Sandals or open shoes can be worn too though getting sand out will take time but not as much as if you wear closed shoes!
