My trip to this lava Island was not less than a dream come true. The most troublesome part of planning the entire trip on my own was choosing the best place to stay in budget. Santorini is best known for its spectacular white caldera views, cliff houses, and Aegean Sea views.
I was very sure that I wanted to stay over the caldera. However, most of the traditional cave hotels were over budget for me. So after a month of research, I finalized the Sunset Hotel in Firostefani. In this post, you can find all the details and my reviews of this property.
Ideal for:
This property is ideal to stay for any kind of traveler. However, it should be a top choice for honeymoon couples. The hotel is located right on the caldera and offers an amazing view of the volcano and the sea of the Mediterranean.
About the property:
The property is located in the mid of the city of Firostefani. It is approx 700 meters from the center. Hotel is equipped with 9 rooms and all of the rooms offer an amazing sunset view from jacuzzi right outside the rooms. The caretaker of the rooms- Mary is a helpful and charming personality lady.
Rooms:
The hotel offers 3 types of Accommodation- Standard Double, Standard Triple, and Superior Double.
Rooms are decent, equipped with TV, electric kettle, and cute interior with hanging lamps. They provide daily room service and a hot bathtub inside the bathroom. You can also enjoy hot Jacuzzi outside with a perfect sunset view. During our visit, it was covered but on request, they opened it for us.

Cost
Room cost was 114 Euro per day in mid-November which further reduced to 92 Euros in late November. One thing interesting here is that if you leave any cloth outside on bed, during room service they will create some interesting art with it.
Food
Complimentary breakfast included sweet chocolate pie, yogurt, bread toast, juice, boiled egg, tea/coffee was chargeable. Apart from this, you can expect Authentic Greek food which mainly includes pies, beverages, and salads.
In Greece, it's really difficult to find vegetarian food so it's my advice to always keep ready to eat food
Best time to visit?
During November Maximum temperature is 18 and min 14 so it's the best time to visit if you don't prefer summers. The entire city is barely crowded during this season and that's the best part. Also during clear weather days, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, right from your Jacuzzi.
Always try to travel in offseason. This way flights and hotel prices are way lesser as compared to prices in peak seasons. Santorini has offseason starting from November. All the villages of Santorini specially OIA has very narrow lanes that's why during peak season it's really hard to get pictures without any photo bombers. How to Reach Hotel from Airport?
Once you exit the airport, you can find taxi booths. We booked with the company Choose Yafy. For Firostefani, they charge 10 Euro per person in sharing. The travelers were cool black and very much comfortable. You can also call them and book a ride from your hotel to the Airport.
From Hotel to Airport they charged us 15 Euros per person as it was a private ride. For 4 people they charge 10 Euro per person.
What to do nearby the property?
1. Visit Virgin Mary Church
Visit the church within a few meters from the hotel. During our visit, it was closed. However, the 3 bells architecture looked really beautiful.
2. Explore the city of Firostefani
Go for a walk from Firostefani to Fira, believe me, that would be the best roads you have ever taken. You will come across some of the stunning seascapes and cliff views. The entire walk is around 2 km.

Apart from these, you can just simply explore the city, its markets, and the neighborhood. Check the souvenir shops, for 1 Euro you can get the fridge stickers. One interesting thing you can buy from here is Mugs with the Greece painting on it and wall hangings.

3. Don't forget to visit the bakeries for Greek Special Pies
Greece has some of the tasty Authentic pies. My all-time favorite was spinach pie and is definitely must be tried.
