Dear Traveller,
I got to know from my several friends over the years, that you wish to visit Greece at least once in your lifetime but somehow couldn't make it so far due to constraints such as financial problems, work, leaves etc. etc. But why do you want to go to Greece, if I may ask? To see ruins of thousands of year old civilization which once flourished? To see beautiful nature surrounding the walls of these remenaints of the past ? To see aqua blue serene ocean beaches? I get it. Greece is beautiful and should always be on your bucket list. But I'm writing this piece because you are neglecting a site which is almost as beautiful as Greece and is very near to you. Yes, Traveller.. I'm talking about me.
I'm Hampi. Remenaints of thousands of year old glorious empire Vijaynagar, with roots originating from your epic Ramayana. I also got mentioned in your Puranas and Rig Veda. I have survived more invasions and wars than what your Greece did and I'm still standing tall. Surrounded by astoundingly beautiful nature, I'm a sight to behold.
I have so many things to offer you. Ruins of Great temples, street markets, stone carved monuments and giant idols, all having engineering brilliance, will keep you awestruck. Hill rock boulders and green coconut trees, on the shores of blue Tungabhadra river will keep the magic alive and present an exquisite sight. Don't miss a coral boat ride across Tungabhadra river, it will take you to the caves and on hampi island which will be delightful ...I assure you. Feed monkeys if you want to...they won't bite you. Listen to the musical sounds which pillars of vitthal temple make, marvel at the beauty of one of its kind stone Chariot and get surprised by the architectural brilliance of Virupaksha Temple and Ugra Narshimha's statue.
All those constraints you have for visiting Greece, doesn't apply to me. Do visit me and I will be forever etched in your memory...I promise you.
Awaiting your visit...!!
Yours truly
Hampi
