Day 1

May 2017

I'm always a mountain person. As Growing up, I imagine myself living in a hill House with a view of mountains surrounding it as a reflex of watching alot of Bollywood movies and reading alot of travel writings I guess. I have been to Uttrakhand before but was not satisfied by the mountains. So when we were planing our trip in January I was sure that this time I want to go a little higher. As I wanted to visit a place little quieter than Shimla and Manali, I choose KUFRI.

The journey starts from bhopal railway station as we were headed to delhi. We stayed there for a day and booked a cab for kufri.
We left early the next morning as there's a long way to reach our destination.
Huh..the road trips are the best. As we go higher the landscape started to change from crowded Delhi to farmlands of punjab and then to sloppy mountains of Himachal. From Punjabi dhabas and tea stalls the view is getting better. I can felt the rush inside me as we were getting closer.
We reached at our hotel- Starling kufri at night. The next morning we had an amazing breakfast and left for the sightseeing. We started from Horse ride at mahasu peak, a muddy trail to the top of the mountains for the best view of Himalayas. But the morning was misty, they say We had to wait for a while for the sky to get clear for the perfect view. After waiting for the longest time we were still disappointed. When we were coming back, I got the most mischievous horse, it kept running and bouncing on the muddy trail with a lot of rocks in between I was really scared I tried to calm him down but he won't listen, the next thing I remember was me standing in the middle of the muddy trail half my legs in mud and horses were kept coming from both sides. Thankfully that horse rider saved my head from getting against a rock. That incident still made my heart starts pounding in my chest. The evening we went to see the green Valley, it was lush green slopes for as far as we can see, the beauty of nature as we are sitting at the center of it. When we came back to the hotel, they invited us for a game night which was really fun.
Next morning when my father went for the morning walk he saw the Himalayas just for a few minutes and then it goes hiding again. The Himalayas don't bother to show itself the whole trip.
We left to explore the Himalayan nature park. Situated on the capped hills of kufri, the park established in 1992. It is the home of leopards, Himalayan bear, goral, brown bear, musk deer, barking dear, Tibetan wolf and many more species of pheasant and birds. And The beautiful western Tragopan, which is the state bird of Himachal pradesh. The whole walking along the park was nothing less than trekking, those trails along with alpine meadow was a wonderful experience.
In the evening, we went to see shimla a little bit. We were planing to just explore the market and had dinner. But we reached there a bit late so the market was about to close, after 40 min walk on the mall road we found a nice restaurant and had dinner. And came back to our hotel. We spend the next day relaxing and enjoying the services of the hotel.
That was the end of a most relaxing trip I ever had. I still remember the sun rising from the hills reflecting it's rays to the huge alpine trees. That view from our hotel window of green slopes and rain washing the dirt away from the trees. Those tea and maggi breaks along the way. The mountains indeed have something that stays in our mind. And never satisfy us.
