On day two it was raining, we could not visit the Badal Mahal there. It is essentially just ruins of an old castle but at a good height. Views up top are great. Especially if you visit during sunset. To reach there you would need a bike and then trek along for sometime. Approx 1.5 hours visit it is.
We returned back to Delhi. Please book your rides in advance. We got late.
Let me start with a brief introduction to Patan Mahal.
Patan Mahal, nestled in the serene Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, India, is a resplendent palace that exudes a royal charm of a bygone era. Erected in the 18th century, this opulent abode once served as a hunting lodge for the esteemed Maharaja of Patan.
Today, this architectural marvel has been tastefully transformed into a boutique hotel that seamlessly blends the grandeur of Rajasthani heritage with modern comforts. The palace enchants its guests with exquisitely adorned chambers, inviting courtyards, lush gardens, and a shimmering pool. The hotel also offers a range of exciting cultural and adventure activities, such as camel safaris, village strolls, and bird watching expeditions.
Patan Mahal is an idyllic haven that offers a reprieve from the frenzied pace of urban life, providing a window into the rich history and culture of Rajasthan. A stay at this ethereal palace promises to be an unforgettable experience, leaving guests with indelible memories of its timeless beauty and regal splendor.
We booked a room for 2, a couple of days back. Here's the details:
- Rent : ₹17,000 + taxes for 2 days stay.
- Cab Fare : ₹3000+taxes (one way) if booked online or ₹1500 per day if you take a private vendor, you would also have to pay for their stay and meals.
Best Months to go : Feb, March, April, May, November
There is another suite which is for ₹21,000 + taxes. You can take your pick based on budget and availability. I would recommend booking from any online application (Disclaimer: We do not endorse any).
Roadways are the only way to reach here and trust me from Delhi it is no delight! We were stuck in traffic for more than an hour and since we took the village route towards the end, we met with a terrible scene of endless village roads and turns and got inside 4-5 dead ends. Be careful and plan it out well.
Once you reach Patan Mahal, you'd get a very warm welcome from the staff who will politely show you your room.
The Room : The room was very spacious with an 18th Century aesthetic. The furniture, pristine yet very classy! And comfortable with all modern facilities available inside the room. Chest of drawers, resting chair, wardrobe with a digital safe, mini fridge, etc. An electric kettle is available too for making tea or coffee.
As we moved around we noticed that the palace has recently been renovated. However, they have retained and preserved the vintage vibe of the place. The room had a private balcony that provided the view of the "aangan" below.
Lets shift our focus to a very basic but important question
- Meals : Food is cooked in house, they have a good decent chef who makes all sorts of dishes. For non-vegetarian folks, I must tell you that the chicken would be frozen mostly, so fresh chicken is an issue here.
Buffet : { Lunch ₹1250 per head (Non Veg), Dinner ₹1250 per head } + taxes! Drinks are available, hard liquor at a modest price.
What to eat: please have ur complementary breakfast! And for dinner if u are a non vegetarian, please ask them to make "Laal Maas" i.e mutton. It's brilliant and lip smacking and throat burning and stomach blowing, but then true delight!
Around the property you can enjoy the walks around, there's some history also associated with the place so people there would tell you all about the family and stuff.
There is also a pool where you can swim or chill out. I would recommend moving around and finding some nice photography locations.
You can also watch the sunset.
