Had some time to spend on Independence day, left out to witness Qutub minar,
Qutub ud din Aibak, started construction of the Qutb Minar's first storey around 1199, towers 73m, Qutub minar complex is listed in UNESCO's world heritage site.
Nearest metro station is Saket, one can catch an auto from there to reach the spot, we paid Rs 50, reached there around 4:00 pm , saw a long queue ahead of us to collect ticket, we had to pay Rs 4o per ticket , (independence day hike), normal day charges are Rs 30 for Indian citizen and Rs 500 for foreign nationals, once can book tickets via online or get it on the spot.
Had to stand in queue for a while in order to get tickets, lucky that women's Queue had quicker movement and mom came with three tickets in her hand, At the entrance there is a facility of drinking water, i didn't give it a shot , but who did gave a feedback that it was not very tasty , i was wondering whether water was bore water.
The beautful Qutub minar and its surroundings welcomes you, hugeness of Qutub minar becomes very visible as one moves closer to it, we spent some time in the park , ideal to spend time with self or with friends and family ,
Remnants in the complex also provides beautiful background options for great snapshots,
Mom who was thrilled , tried to catch the top of Qutub minar and my friend did capture a pic,
One can feel at ease from the hustle and bustle of city life, and can witness Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, Iron pillar (weighs 6 tonnes) , tomb of Iltutmish and Alai Minar (remnants of an unfulfilled dream).
The inscriptions along the walls are Arabic and are very artistic, any and every spot is clickable, make sure you carry your cameras.
If possible wait after sunset, the view that awaits you is worth the wait.
From there lot of auto walas will be waiting in queue to get a chance to serve you to drop off to near by metro station , he charged us Rs 60 to drop off us at Saket
Overall had a great time, and i left the place wondering how the people involved in laying bricks felt and how the surroundings looked back then, how things might/is different now.
