Though not a great fan of poetry, but the name "Mirza Ghalib" and his shayri has always fascinated me....so one fine Sunday....on my posting in Delhi....I decided to check out the place where Ghalib Sahab lived and wrote his poetry.
Took the Blue line from Noida and got down at Chandni Chowk metro station.
Ghalib's house is located in Ballimaran and is about 15-20 mins walk from the station. You can also take e rickshaw or autos.
The place is almost nondescript with shops all around...but everyone knows the place.
It's a small house converted into a museum...full of Ghalib's shayri...and depictions of his life. You really need to have a sound understanding of Urdu to understand the real essence of his writing.
This place is strictly for people who are history buffs and also have a certain emotional connect with a poet who lived more than a century and half back...but whose name has etched forever in Urdu Shayri.
Overall a very satisfying experience
