I visit Jama Masjid of Delhi quite often to click pictures, but the best time for anyone to visit the place is right before Eid.
You'll find the place full of crowds every evening but the month of Ramadan is special and so the special gathering continues till the occasion of Eid. But given the enormous size of the place, the courtyard can easily accommodate more than 2,500 people.

As a photographer, my favourite subjects to capture at Jama Masjid are the raw and candid moments — specially of children who barely understand the festival and only care about one thing, having fun!
Ramadan comes from the Arabic word 'Al Ramad', which means extreme heat and dryness. It refers to the challenge faced by a person while observing the fast. In this pious month of Ramadan, adults abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.
So, people gather at the mosque to end their fast with their families. They sit in groups and have a feast together after the evening Namaz.
When lights around the Jama masjid are turned on, the place takes on a whole new avatar.
And when the sun is finally set, people move out of the masjid but it remains open at all times for devotees.
If you're a photographer, you'll find plenty of moments worth capturing when you visit the beautiful place during Ramadan. Make sure not to miss this gem of a place on your list when in Delhi!
