With the recent wait for US visa everyone has started to lose hopes of their vacation plans! I have been to US a few times and luckily few years ago the wait times for US visa wasn't for over a year! And looks like with the disgruntled travellers the US Embassy heard the plea of Indians and decided to do something about it.

The current US visa wait time for Indian visitors is a long 500-600 days. Some of you had to wait even longer! This long wait was due to Covid-19 the large backlog was created setting back many applications.

In a new initiative to cut down the visa wait time, US embassy and its consulates in India have launched several new initiatives.

United States Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, on Wednesday, said that the wait time for first-time tourist visa interviews has been reduced by more than 50 per cent, adding that goal for 2023 is to process at least one million visas.

"Our consular teams across India are putting in the extra hours to meet the needs of international travellers and bring down wait times," Mumbai Consular Chief John Ballard said in a statement.

"This is part of a mission-wide effort to find innovative solutions to facilitate travel to the United States," he added.

Eric Garcetti spoke at IIT Delhi and stated that the US Mission in India is currently processing visas faster than ever before and will continue to do so. Finally all the stale applications will be processed faster!

Addressing the audience Garcetti said, "We're already doing this. We're currently processing more visas, faster, than the US Mission in India ever has before. We have set a goal for ourselves to process at least a million visas in 2023, and we're already more than halfway towards reaching that goal."

It affected several Indian businesses and thousands of Indians who rely on the visa to live and work in the US.
