Delhi me ek din!

Day 1

We(me and my family) reached Delhi in the night at around 11:45PM. We had pre booked an IRCTC room and we stayed there for the night.

Day 2

Next Day we shifted to our Hotel room and I set course for my journey leaving my parents behind as they were headed in the other direction.

I headed over to the nearest metro station and got a traveller's day pass. The pass isn't valid on the Airport Line though.(Deposit Amount-200/- Refundable-50/-)

I boarded the metro and I got down at Shivaji Metro Station. I love how calm and peaceful the Gurudwara is. It was the perfect start to my day. The feeling cannot be described in words.

Next, I moved to Jantar Mantar which is at walking distance from Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Squirrels might just become your good friends if you're a bit soft with them.😉 Don't forget to watch the parrots. They are hidden in the shade of the trees. And then Jantar Mantar is just awesome with the way it was made. Try reading and understanding the directions given.

Next up, I headed to Old Delhi. You don't have to pay any entry fee unless you're a foreign national. Don't forget to watch the intricate designs and the way this Masjid is made. And there is one tower on which the access is allowed. Don't forget to go up there. It might takes some time to climb up the 100+ circular stairs and you might even feel dizzy when up but it's worth it once you see the view.

Next up, is the Red Fort. There isn't a lot to describe about this place. The place in itself is so huge that you can view it from a height of 10 foot above the crowd. It is lined up with museums and houses a lot of awesome things of historical value. It is a bit far and I'd suggest to walk unless you're too lazy like I am.

There isn't a lot to write about this place except for the awe-inspiring Architectural design and the peace and Harmony that this shape is a symbol of. As for Children, peace is screaming and open spaces are playground.

Get down at the Central Secretariat from Jama Masjid Station. To your left, is the India gate and to your right, is the Parliament of India. Entry isn't allowed even on the roads in front of the Parliament when it is in session like it was when I visited. So I headed over to the India gate. If you don't want to find it crowded or fogged, visit when the sun is out like I did at around 11AM.

This temple is known for it's grandeur. It is so grand that for a fast traveller like me, it took more than 2 hours view most of the places. I couldn't give more time because I had to head back for lunch and I had other places to visit too.

After having lunch and giving rest to my hunger pangs, there was almost no time left and I was too tired to move an inch forward. So I spent my time here. If you're visiting Delhi and you don't see this mall, it's not worth it. And the rumours have been true. This mall is like none I've ever seen. It houses many of the best brands of the world. It is, indeed, the Mall of India.

Been to Delhi and not tasted kebab? Are you Vegetarian? The food here is so delicious that I wish I could go back just to have some again!

Now that it was late, I headed back to my hotel room and slept a good sleep. Thanks to the comfortable rooms at Amax Inn. The owner is so good and friendly. He even helps people plan their tours in and around Delhi and sits at the reception in the evening for his customers to interact with him. This gesture is something that most hotels lack, the human element.

Day 3

These gardens only open for a month or two in an year. Thanks to my dearest friend who passed me this information. These gardens are a soothing to the eyes. Though some localites were not so soothing because they were plucking beautiful flowers and then stomping them under their feet. I wish someone would pick them up and throw them out of the garden. These people don't appreciate art and neither do they want others to see how beautiful art is.

Coming to the sad part now, it was my time to head back home. This was how I enjoyed my trip. Hope you'd too. Be cautioned about the extravagant charges the auto drivers ask for. None of the locations I used auto for, charged me more than ₹20. The longest was Central Secretariat to Mughal Gardens.

A few pictures from my itinerary.
