If you are going to travel in India then Delhi may be a good option for you or in other words if you are traveling to India and do not go to Delhi then your India tour will be incomplete. New Delhi is a very old historical city situated in the northern part of India, which is also currently the capital of India.

The old name of this city, settled since Mahabharata period, was Indraprastha, which was later changed to Delhi, it is said that from 1679 to 1857, it was ruled by the Mughals. Due to the Mughal Empire in the olden times, many historical sites and old forts are seen here.

Declared the capital of India in 1857, the total population of this city is 1.70 cr. The world’s largest local body which services about 1 point 700 million people; it has a total area of 1483 square kilometers.

Red Fort ( Lal Qila )

Selected as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 2007, the Red Fort is an important place in Delhi’s tourism. There is evidence that the Red Fort was built in about 10 years from 1638 to 1648 by the fifth Mughal ruler shahjahan in India.

Due to being made of red sandstone and its color is red, it is called the Red Fort, it is situated on the banks of the holy river Yamuna in India. How important the Red Fort is from the point of view of tourism can be gauged by the fact that it attracts millions of domestic and foreign tourists every year. This is also important because the Prime Minister of India addresses the general public from here on Independence Day and Republic Day.

It is said that in olden times it used to live around 3000 people.

But after the revolution of 1857, the British took it under their control and made it their headquarters.

The Red Fort is located opposite Chandni Chowk, the famous market of New Delhi.

If you come to visit New Delhi then you must see Humayun’s Tomb. This tomb is also built on the banks of the sacred Yamuna River like the famous Red Fort. Humayun’s tomb is made of mortar and red sandstone, the mosaic work done on its premises and walls is very attractive. The huge dome made of white marble and the marble square gives the tomb a special look.

This monument is also famous because the work done in it matches with the work of the world famous Taj Mahal, it is said that the Taj Mahal was built in Agra after being inspired by this tomb.

Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, is made of red sandstone and marble. Jama Masjid, one of the famous tourist destinations of Delhi, is also just 500 meters from the Red Fort. It is said that the fifth Mughal ruler in India, ShahJahan, built it in about 6 years at a cost of 1 million Indian rupees in 1650.

During the time of the Mughal ruler in Delhi, renovation work has been done continuously in it, due to which the mosque deposited today is in a much better condition than other monuments.

For tourists, two doors are used in it, one is in the north and one is in the south. One door which is in the east is opened only on Friday, this door is said to be used for the rulers of that time.

If you come to visit New Delhi, then you must definitely see the Swaminarayan Complex, also known as modern Akshardham, where you will get to see the amazing view of modern craftsmanship.

Swaminarayan Temple, a famous Hindu religious place in Delhi, is always a centre of attraction for tourists. Akshardham complex was built and inaugurated by the Delhi government in 2005 and is now fully under the temple executive committee.

Historical art in the temple complex has been constructed with modern artisans and a statue of the famous Lord Swaminarayan has been installed. The grand temple is adorned with 234 pillars with around 9 decorated domes and small statues of 20000 Hindu deities.

The complex is mainly divided into parts of Garbhagrah, Mandapam, Mandovar, Narayan Peeth and Gajendra Peeth.

Lodhi Garden, situated on the Lodhi road in the southern part of Delhi, occupies an important place in the tourist spots of Delhi. The garden was built during the Lodhi rulers in Delhi and still some monuments of Lodi dynasty can be seen in the garden. The beautiful garden is an amazing sight in itself due to the colorful flowers, small ponds and jogging tracks made later. This garden in Delhi is also protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. Various types of birds can be seen here in different seasons throughout the year.

In the garden, the tomb of Mohammad Shah, the tomb of Sikandar Lodi, the big dome, the head dome, and Athpula the old one is built this time.

If anyone asks you which is the tallest building in the world made of brick, then the answer will be Qutub Minar in Delhi. This tower, about 72 meters high, is situated near Mehrauli in the south part of Delhi. It is estimated to have been built in 1192 AD on the basis of old monuments built around the Qutub Minar. This complex has also been approved by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Qutbuddin Aibak, the first Muslim ruler in India, started the construction of this complex with the desire to propagate the spread of Muslim religion.

According to my personal experience, if you come to visit New Delhi, then you should not miss the opportunity to see Qutub Minar at any cost.
