We three girls started our journey from Delhi to amritsar boarding the Jan shatabdi express which starts arnd 7:20 am . The experience in shatabdi was way above my expectations as the service in the train was very good, seats were comfortable and the coach was very clean.we reached Amritsar arnd 1:20 which was on time ..we booked an Uber for our hotel and soon after getting on the cab we experienced the hospitality of amritsar..the cab driver was very courteous and offered us a good deal for a half day trip to wagah border which we booked even before reaching the hotel. Our stay was at the Ramada plaza which is just a km away from the golden temple . The property is good but it has some scope of improvement as the washbin in the washroom was waterlogged after using it once.we didn't get that much time for checking the entire hotel as we had to freshen up for lunch and go to wagah border..for lunch we went to the very famous bharawan da dhaba which serves one of the best chole and amritsari Nan along with lassi..it's a should be on the list of anyone who comes to amritsar.. Amritsar should be on the list of every foodie..the chole were just heavenly...after a sumptious meal..we headed towards the wagah border which is just one hour away from the city.we didn't HV the VIP passes so a bit of advise you should try for the VIP seats as there was a lot of commotion for grabbing the seats ...as the place is so crowded...we had to face some problems but it was all worth as soon the event started..the wagah border ceremony is one which every indian should definitely watch..the sense of pride and patriotism that runs through ur veins is unexplainable..with all the females dancing on the ground on deshbhakti songs .. the anchor a military person continuously increasing the energy levels of the audience by shouting how's the Josh and vande matram ...to the beautiful flag hoisting ceremony it was all one surreal experience and a special mention to our neighbors whose army guards were all six feet tall specially the power battle between the two countries was just so fun to watch...while coming back to the city our driver took us to a very famous kulfi Wala ND as I have a sweet tooth I couldn't resist I even made a video of him making the kulfi whr the kulfiwala first added rabri then the kulfi then Malia then firni(which is rice kheer) and then some sugar syrup..it was so heavy then he took us a very famous tea stall so we just didn't have a can driver we had a local guide ..he was also telling us wt all places are good for shopping... lastly we went to durgiana temple which just looks like the golden temple ..it was so peaceful and specially on an April evening .
Our day started early in the morning arnd 2 am as we had planned to see the palki sahib which is taken from the room to the gurudwara...we took an auto from our hotel to the golden temple..it took us 5 minutes and this is one thing that I liked abt the city as in Delhi I can't imagine taking an auto at such a time..we reached gurudwara and as we were early we sat in the first row so that we could take a good look ..the energy was so positive people were chanting the gurbanis and even at 4 am everything was alive .. people of the gurudwara were somewhere cleaning, managing ,serving people tea .then around 4:30 the palki sahib which is the holy book of Sikhs entered and all the people present there showered it with roses..a beautiful path was set for the palki sahib... and as soon as the precision ended the gates for the temple..which caused a lot of commotion..as many people had come it was difficult for us as many people were breaking the queues..we had to wait for three hours just to enter .it was a test of patience and perseverance as we had to stand for three hours but it was completely worth the wait the gurudwara is just how I had imagined we got ample time to do the darshan . then we sat near the sarovar area which is just so peaceful.. gurudwaras have always been mesmerizing for me since my college days I have been going to seek solitude and some peace...after the temple visit we went back to our hotel to had a sumptious breakfast ...as we had our shatabdi in the evening ..we decided to do some shopping..so as suggested by our cab driver we bought few of the very famous masalas for Delhi ..must try is the raita masala for all the ladies and the chole masala then after that we did some jutti shopping which are leather sandals I crazily bought 6 pairs as I couldn't resist...and after that we did some suit shopping .. people traveling their should definitely buy the phulkari suits which are Amritsars speciality. Then finally after all the shopping we decided to have lunch at the famous gulshan da dhaba ND the food again was just simply heavenly..the paranthas and the chole ..I even found the lassi to better than the previous day's ...this is how I trip was .. amritsar is absolutely perfect travel destination as it awaken all your senses like Patriotism, spiritually, culinary and last but not the least you can shop there as much as you like..I am definitely coming back in the winters to experience amritsar again.
