Air India, a principal carrier in the US-India travel corridor, has decided to curtail the frequency of its nonstop flights between India and USA from later this week. This move was triggered by the US travel restrictions on India that came into effect Tuesday morning.
The airline is currently operating 30 weekly nonstop flights between the two nations and had plans to increase this frequency to 32 per week by May 11. But the ravaging effects of COVID-19 on India and the resultant measures taken by countries across the world, including the US, to restrict travel from India had caused the nation's flag carrier to decide otherwise.
Air India announced the cancellation of a few of its flights from/ to America, thus cutting down the frequency of its scheduled India-US air bubble flights for the period between May and June. This new schedule is tentative, and revisions to this tentative schedule depend on the status of travel restrictions imposed by the US on India.
As of now, the following flights are declared canceled by Air India. The national carrier also said that it would soon provide an update on waivers/options on canceled flights.
