I can't remember in which class, there was a topic on the Chota Nagpur Plateau in the text book of Geography. Perhaps, some of my Indian friends, reading this trip description would remember that.It is a plateau in eastern India, which covers much of Jharkhand state as well as adjacent parts of Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. Netarhat is on the top of this plateau (1100 meter) and due to the queenly beauty of the nature at this place, it is called The Queen of Chota Nagpur. Netarhat is 3 hours drive from Ranchi (the nearest airport and rail station), the capital city of Jharkhand state. If you wish to enjoy the beauty of virgin nature, visit this place once. As it is a lesser known tourist destination, accommodations are limited. Hotel Pravat Bihar run by Jharkhand Tourism Department is the only standard place to stay. The main attraction of naterhat is observing sun set from Magnolia point. Some other attractions include water falls and pear gardens spreading in acres of land. The best time to visit Netarhat is in between March to Octaber. In summer, the temperature ranges between 18-35 degree. So summer is very pleasant here. An weak end visit to Netarhat and on the lap of the nature would certainly make you feel good.
