Nature, culture and love- WOW Poonhill

The trek which begins from naturally blessed Nepalese town Pokhara has lot to offer. Beginning the trek at Kimche, it right away demands a high level of endurance. Trekking along the steep uphill stony staircases to Ghandruk is a true adventure for the novice trekker like me. Ghandruk, an outstanding village where the clans of brave British Gurkha Armies live, is no wonder a different world achieved after couple of hours walk. Continuing the uphill climb along the dense rhododendron woods to Sitkyu and then the final part of day's trek along the pleasant forest leads to Tadapani. Tadapani has few tea houses offering warm meals and warm beds.

The trek becomes even more interesting as it slowly gains the elevation. Deurali is amazing destination just below the Gurung Hill. Gurung Hill is not a part of our itinerary but few dare to climb it despite of exhausting trek whole morning from Tadapani. We climbed over it. The effort rewards with mesmerizing view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna from Gurung Hill. The base for the final destination Poonhill is Ghorepani. Arriving at Ghorepani trekkers feel pure Himalayan air in the atmosphere. The final destination of the trek- Poonhill is achieved early in the morning (before dawn) for the striking sunrise view. The view from Poonhill is amazing. The color of the sky seems like orange flame of burning fire right before the sunrise, then it slowly changes to golden flame of fire than after the sunrise the Himalayan Ranges of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Tukuche among others sparkle like the big mass of silver. Then and there I understood why trekkers undertake all the challenges to gain elevation closer to Himalayas.
