Last minute Sunday trip planning ? Pavagadh is just perfect. Specially if you happen to be visiting during the monsoons or just after the rains. It is a 3.5 hours drive from Ahmedabad Excellent roads all along.
Once you near the hills, the landscape is breathtaking. We went in the month of August, so the hills all around were full of waterfalls. Going up the hill felt like going up in the clouds.
The Mahakali Temple at the top is what attracts most of the crowds. Once you reach the top, there is a ropeway to take you all the way up to the temple. And then a bunch of steep steps to finally reach the temple. The location and view from the top is a different experience altogether.
For us in the monsoon, it felt like we were on top of the world, in the clouds.
The rest of Pavagadh has a lot to roam and see. Ditch the car for a bit and just walk around. The old fort remains are gorgeous, innumerable view points to see the valley below. Follow the walking path and you'll reach the waterfall.
Perfect for a one day picnic.
It's lush green all around , small eating joints all over the place.
Back from the hill, below is the famous Champaner fort as well, part of the Pavagadh Champaner Archeological Park.
