Day 1 : DIMAPUR, NAGALAND
On 14th Feb 2020, Me and my friend traveled to Dimapur. The airport looked like a old airfield of World War 2. As we arrived at the Dimapur airport there was hustle- bustle of the taxis, cabs, autos outside as all the airports have. We hired a auto guy who took us to the DG office for the ILP (inner line permit) signature which we had bought online from the Nagaland tourism site.
We wasted over an hour over there the official from the department told us that there is no need of the signature on the online purchased inner-line permit. So the auto driver dropped us at the Dimapur Railway station.
The scenario near the Dimapur railway station was quite noisy shouts of the local taxi driver, autos honking, vendors screaming. I inquired about the taxi rates to Kohima, the man told its just Rs.300 only for a person but seeing the car full of people we decided to rent one directly to Kohima. The guy agreed to take us Rs.1500/- for the drop trip. When we started our way to Kohima he did gave us a deal that his friend gonna hop in between till Kohima and you can pay me Rs.1200. We agreed upon the deal and the journey started. The soulful old Bollywood songs and the dust outside we had a great combination indeed. We started a healthy friendly conversation with him asking about the place and people around. I was more curious to know about him and the people of Nagaland.
Day 2: KOHIMA TO DZOKOU VALLEY
After our short travel from Dimapur to Kohima which seems to be long. We rented a hotel in the heart of the city, Hotel Pine & hired the same taxi driver, Tai Tai for Dzukou valley trek. W started at 530.am in morning on 15th Feb. On the way his friends name Aloi and Hendok wanted to explore with us. We 5 started to trek the valley from Jakhama side consider to be the most steep side to trek the valley.
After almost 4 hour of trekking we reached the top of Jakhama peak. From where you can see the valley and other route too which comes from Viswema side.
From the view point we moved to dormitory side which is around 30 to 35 Minutes. The view is very fascinating and beautiful from the peak top.
After reaching the guest house the valley is around 40 minutes descend from the place. The legs may feel the pain but the view can be painkiller for the same.
The valley of spirits is my land of solace. The place which i have been dreaming since my Junior college days finally i did visit the place after a decade..
The day ended with thrill & amazing experience for lifetime,New friends which were enough to fall in love with the place & people of Nagaland.
We did the trek in a day because we had limited number of days to explore the North-East paradise. Just because of the company we did descend down the valley from Jakhama again where we had parked our car in Jakhama Village. The descend was quite tough because in Nagaland it starts getting dark by 4 p.m in winters. We completed the trek by 6 p.m sharp and the day completely turned dark by the time and felt like night.
