So we started our journey from Howrah Railway station to Dimapur. We reached Dimapur at night. So previously we booked retireing room in Dimapur.
Next day morning we started for Kohima. Kohima is a Angami Tribe Area. We hired a taxi from the taxi stand which is outside of the Dimapur Station. It was 2100 rs for a whole car. And 300rs for one person. We reached Kohima around 1 pm. We stayed in Ecostay Hostel. It's a pocket friendly hostel, per person 550 rs with breakfast.
Then went for a walk to visit the local places. We had lunch in Tibet Kitchen. The food was very tasty.
Then we brought some foods for dinner because the shops close within 5.30 pm but the restaurants are open till 8.30 pm.
Then we went to the Baptist Church in Kohima and the market. From there we booked our cab for next day trip.
Next day we already booked a car it cost 4000 rs to visit Touphema, Kisama Heritage Village and Kohima Cathedral. War cemetery . But we had time limit from 8 to 4 pm. So after reaching touphema village, our driver called the caretaker to open the museum of Touphema and the cottages. You can get a view from the ground. Check my photos.
Then we reached Kisama Heritage Village in Kigwema, around 15 kms from Kohima. It is the main area of Hornbill Festival. You can see there 16 different huts for 16 different tribes and the 2nd world war museum.
Last place was Kohima Cathedral. It is the main church in Kohima. It is very beautiful. And you can see a beautiful view from there. Then went for war Cemetery.
After that we went for lunch in a cafe named skywalk and a symphony cafe. We had a combo and coffees.
We hired a cab for kigwema one cab for 500 rs. We stayed at Dawn Homestay. 800 rs per head including breakfast and dinner. Awesome facilities and foods. Then we went to visit the "khet" of kigwema and the village. We walked all the way to visit those places. We came to know about their culture and traditions. We saw tradition houses of angami tribe. The boy's dormitory or Morung. After coming back we collected informations for the Dzukou Valley Trekking.
We started our trekking around 5.30 am. From our homestay. They hired a cab from kigwema to Viswema base point. They we walked around 1.30 hours to reach the top point. Then we had our breakfast then again we started to walk towards the valley. Around 10.45 am we reached the base camp of Dzukou Valley. You can stay there. They have all facilities. But we already decided to came back that day. The scenery was mesmerising. You can sit there and enjoy the view from the base camp. Then we came down from 12.45 pm. And we came down around 3.30. The driver was our guide so we came back to the homestay with him.
* the first 20 mins take to reach Viswema to the base point of trekking
* 1.30 hours needs to reach the top of the starting point of Valley. Actually it depends on your walking speed. It was not a plain path but stairs.
* then 2 hours path from valley to base camp
* the cab took 1500 rs from homestay to base point.
* 2000 rs for guide.
* 1500rs to come back from base point to homestay.
= another way to reach Dzukou Valley from Jakhama. But the path is not so good for nontrekkers.
Next destination was Manipur. So we booked a cab from our homestay to Mao. The cab charged us around 800 rs. Then after reaching Mao we again hired a cab to Imphal cost 5k rs.
Next blog for Imphal coming soon.
