
The enchanting valley of greenery DZUKOU VALLEY is situated at the border of Nagaland and Manipur northeastern states of India . This valley is well known for its natural environment, seasonal flowers and flora and fauna.It is situated at an altitude of 2438 m above sea level, behind the Japfü Peak located in Nagaland. The rare Dzükou lily is found only in this valley. It also boasts of a variety of flowering seasons through out the year and is the home of varieties of flowers including Lillies, Euphorbias, Rhododendrons and the valley is heavily populated by a type of tough bamboo shrubs which gives the whole valley a mossy green carpeted look. The serpentine stream flowing through Dzukou becomes frozen during winter.It offers one of the best trekking and bird watching trails in North-Eastern India.In winter, the valley becomes completely covered with frost and hence referred to as the cold valley of celestial beauty.

The word Dzüko is originally derived from the Viswema dialect of the Angamis 'Dzü-ko' which means 'Soulless and Dull' referring to when some ancestors of Viswema who moved out to establish a new village in Dzüko, due to the unfavorable weather conditions they were unable to harvest crops which led them to say "the valley is very beautiful but is dull and soulless".

Access : The nearest railway station or airport access place is Dimapur which is approximately around 70Kms away from Kohima . Indian Citizens (Non_Nagaland Residentials) would require Inner Line Permit pass is to visit Nagaland so one must acquire it while travelling to Nagaland .

After reaching Kohima one can stay over in Kohima city only and travel around the city roam to experience the city . The famous world war cemetery and some beautiful churches are worth visiting . And if anyone is much interested in trying naga cuisines of smoked flavoured pork with axone this is the best way to experience .
Or one can plan up to stay at the home-stays we are connected with as our most local Coordinators are guide and well versed in English and Hindi both to support and guide any traveller to Dzukou Valley .
Staying overnight at a beautiful homestay like Jafphu Homestay ,Dawn Homestay or in kohima one can start the journey to Dzukou Valley trek early morning as the time to reach till foothills or the starting point takes some amount of time more then an hour. One need to entry at the Viswema village entry point for Dzukou with of Rs.100 .

The best way is take a sumo ride till the trek start point as it removes the fatigues before even starting the trek . One need to trek for about one hour or less then 40-50 minutes depending upon their capacity up-hill to reach the trek plain starting point.


The walking trail is mostly plain with the hills on one side and on the other side the river stream will be flowing with the favourite hushing sound of the water moreover, the cloud would give a sudden mask effect once in a while as you walk towards the guesthouse side. And as you try reach near to the guesthouse you will be able to see the guesthouse but sometimes the cloud covers low the visibility but the trail seems very easy on its way ending up at the guest house front after a five/four long hours walking.


After we reach the guesthouse we have to pitch our tents for our visitor clients and prepare the lunch ahead till they freshen up and post lunch one had to visit the valley if interested or can relax and snug inside the comfy tents . Else one can visit the valley also which is one hour trek from the guest house . And the valley comprises with lot of beautiful locations to stroll around and laze the time around.

During dinner time we prepare accordingly to client requirement vegetarian or non-vegetarian whatever they prefer.


Post next day early morning we plan to visit the valley if the weather is too good there would lot of places to visit the waterfalls the crystal clear stream and valley visit takes an hour trek from the guest house which can comprise to a total of three hours.


Post valley visit once we are back at guesthouse one can have breakfast and start the journey back to home-stay at downhill ,after reaching downhill at guesthouse one can freshen up and journey back to Dimapur or halt as per requirement.
