Munnar is a town and hill station in the southwestern state of Kerela, India. Munnar is situated around 1600 m above sea level, in the Western Ghats range of mountains. The name Munnar is believed to mean "three rivers", referring to the location at the confluence of Madhurapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. It is situated on the Kanan Devan Hills village in Devikulam talak.
We visited Munnar in the month of June which was the season of early monsoons, so as expected we saw the picturesque beauty of Munnar with low rainshowers or some sort of drizzling. The place was very damp, though. We started from Bangalore Friday night and reached Munnar Saturday morning. We reached there 3-4 hours late from the scheduled arrival time.
DAY 1: We began our trip at around 1.30 in the afternoon. We got the jeep and booked it for both the days. The place was so beautiful that you can click pictures almost everywhere. The roads were narrow and the clouds were floating around. There was no sign of the sun first day. We saw hydel dam in between our trip. Then we reached Mattupetty dam, boating option is available there. There is a place called as view point where the full view of tea plantation is available. The greenery and the plantations are perfect at that place. Best suited for photography.
Then we had a hot cup of tea with street style pakodas. And what's better than a steaming cup of tea with garma garam pakodes in such weather ❤
After that we moved to Echo point which was equally amazing. Then an elephant park, rose garden and at the end did some marketing. The specaility of munnar is its tea. Don't forget to buy some different varieties of tea like masala tea, cardamom tea, ginger tea etc. Also, try handmade chocolates in munnar. They also sell varieties of spices. We wrapped our day by having authentic fish curry..:)
DAY 2: This day we saw sun in the sky. The sky looked so good and all the colours were complimentary. Such an awesome view!! The first thing we saw was the Pothamedu view point and it was a delight as the sky showed its colors, blue sky and white clouds plus the greenery of the area ❤
We moved to Attukal waterfalls but the amount of water flowing was a bit low. Then we had to see the making of tea, for that we visited Kanan Devan mueseum and were totally fascinated with the process. Then the much anticipated one, Eravikulam National Park but there was a big queue and the waiting was of 1.5 hours, we couldn't catch that one as we had our returning bus at 4.30 pm. Do visit this national park as you can catch a glimpse of nilgai there which is very rare. So at the end we had lunch and then moved back with lots of memories and the beauty of the place stored in our minds.
The place was perfect, an impressive beauty with people being so simple and helpful. Only problem you can face is the language one. Hindi and English speakers were kinda low there. And yes, forget your cellphones, the place has a very low network coverage. It is very good actually as you can experience its awesomeness without any disturbance. Feel the beauty & the winds and this journey will make you feel alive ????
