A weekend getaway!!!

I make excuses to go on a trip (hehehe)..This time its the scorching heat wave from the sun and a boring start of a new semester. So I started looking for trekking packages in munnar and this highest peak in munnar caught my eyes(Chokramudi peak).I came across a pretty good deal from JOLLY TOURS (http://www.jollytoursindia.com/) .I started from coimbatore by friday evening and reached munnar around 2:00am. Saturday morning I met along with the other people from different places and had a small session to interact with each other. The first meal of the day started with amazing kerala's special parotta with egg curry.

Day 1

After a good breakfast the group slowly starts for a walk around the markets in the city for a slight warm up and the co-ordinator takes us to the foothills of the chokramudi peak. The instructor gives briefing to the group and we all start to trek towards the peak.

LET'S START..

This trek is would take approximately 6-7 hours covering 12-15 kms ,perfect for beginners .The trek will start with a beautiful scenery of the tea plantations near the hill.

The trail will have a mixture of terrains starting from grassy fields to rocky areas through forest patches.A good shoe with a pretty descent grip will make your trek comfortable.Once we reached the rocky terrain it started drizzling and no one wanted to hide away from the climate as the must covers us up fully. We all had to climb together as the mist was too thick and we managed to reach the halfway point and relaxed ourselves a bit.

The second half was little fun for me as we had to climb on rocks and stuff , cracking jokes among the group.

And when we reached the top ,the view was just amazing.I could feel the wind blowing very strong and I was able to see only green and brown colour throughout the surrounding. We relaxed for around 1-2 hours on the top having our lunch provided by the organisers and clicking photos to have a remainder of that moment. We took the same route to return back to the start point .The return trek was bit easy and took less time to come down.

After the trek we all came to devikulam a small hill station in idukki district and started building our small tents to crash for the night. In the mean time yummy non-veg dinner was arranged by the locals with 3-4 varieteies of dishes which were hot and spicy just perfect for the chill weather.Camp fire was arranged and we had some small games conducted by the organisers and we got to know each other well. It's always fun and interesting to meet new people and we can get to know many things.

Day 2

I had a good sleep through the night after the amazing trek and the next day few activities were planned and we all left the place after our breakfast and reached the place around 9am and activities like kayaking through a small stream ,riding off-road ATV's, zip lining etc.

We spent around 3-4 hours there and went to a nearby hotel, had our lunch and waved goodbye to everyone.

This trek is perfect for beginners and people can visit this place after summer to have a refreshing time like me or you can visit during the winter which is considered the best time to visit munnar .The weather will be absolutely amazing during winter and you can have a good time with your family and enjoy the greenery.
