Day 2: Sunday - Morning at 6:30am, we 3 out of 7 decided to go to dam. Anayirangal dam- It is a lush green carpet of tea plants. The place is surrounded by tea plantations and evergreen forests. A trip to the splendid reservoir will be an unforgettable experience. Dam is 20km away from Bodimet but can see the reservoir. The way to the dam was good and the place were calm and quite. We heard Elephant mourn. spending few hours there and came back to room at 8:45 am.
All of them freshed up, packed things and had our breakfast from Suryanelli and decided to travel few places near to munnar.
Mattupetti Dam, View Point, Echo Point, Lake View, Munnar Town were the places that we had gone on second day. As we need to travel back we travelled shortest places in maximum time. Few hours later we geared up and started our journey back to end. A big thanks to Meeshapulimala for giving a wonderful experience. I swear you must go once to this place if you have the stamina and guts.
MEEEEEEEEEEEEESHAPULIMALAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
More on Munnar is awaiting.. Kanthaloor. Until then;
Signing Off...!!!!!!
Trek Meeshapulimala
The gladdest moment in human life, me thinks, is a departure into unknown lands.
It's all started in a week. We, sevens, decided to go for an outing. Everyone's first option will be either Munnar/Wagamon/Valparai. But different thought to travel diverse places is an experience and adventurous. And that decison might can bring roughly a new day. Here is our travelogue.
Destination: Kolukkumalai-Meeshapulimala.
As I had gone across munnar so many times, it was not new to me. But Meeshpulimala, it's something different.
Day 1: Saturday- Planned to start at early morning. Four Bikes, fully covered, packed. Engine roared and booom...
Pookatupady>Perumbavoor>Kothamangalam>Neriamangalam>Adimaly>Anachal>Bison Valley>Suryanelli
We had a tight road trip from Anachal to main road via Bison Valley. Ride through that way if you have a bullet or bike having cc above 300 and roads are totally damaged, deep curves and risky too.
Stay were already booked in sooryaneli-double Tree. Nice and comfort place. We reached there at 12PM and were in hurry to travel to kolukkumalai-meeshapulimala. We inquired in the hotel to get a safari to the second highest peak in south India. We got a person and booked safari to the top. He came at 1:30PM and we started from the hotel. Climate was good and was not too sunny. Mild Chilling. We have reached kolukkumalai at 2:00PM. The jeep driver was very much supportive. Most of them refuse to trek Meeshpulimala after 1PM as it will take time to reach there. So, most of them prefer till kolukkumalai. But we were decided to go Meeshpulimala at any case. Forest permission is required to trek Pulimala. That can be taken from kolukkumalai. But here the jeep driver helped us to get all the necessary permissions. He was here since 15 years. So I don't have to say more anything about his hold there. We came inside and we were travelling in 4X jeep. We have seen 2X commander in which it was struggling to move up. There were no roads on the way to Pulimala. Dead point has reached and from here we have to trek.
Meeshapulimala- Destination for the highly adventurous. Ideal... Trekking loaded.
Standing tall at 2,640 meters (8661 ft) above sea level, it is the second highest peak in South India.
Have you seen the mist covered Meesappulimala?... If not, we have experienced the real clouds that makes us float at the top.
Requirements: Water, Trekking stick, loose full sleeve dress, shoes.
Trekking from bottom to top succeeding 6.3 KM is not simple as you think. Very steep hill and travelling inside Mullamkaadu is not easy. Usual way that was used to trek had faded. Here after I will call our Jeep Driver as Guide. He told we can go inside through a narrow way. Holy shit- that was like hell out. Skinny, slight road where animals usually walks. He told elephants walks by this way. We almost looked each other as there is no way to escape if an elephant comes. If anyone step out right, he will then fell to sloppy mullamkaadu. Thorns made us some scratches in hands and legs.Pressure were reaching down when we climb up. we have to stop in between to relax after few walks. Between 6500mtrs and 7000mtrs we were able to see Varayadu(Nilgiri Tahr) and it was running in above 60km per hour when it saw us. And that one was near to us.
Varayadu odi pogunathu kandu kothiyayyi poyyii.. Kastapettu kayarunna njangal.. Paavam!!!!
we took 3 hours to reach the top of meeshapulimala.ie..8661mtrs. OMG!!! Hardely challenging one. I wont say we REACHED but have CONQUERED the 2nd highest peak and it's a proud. Kodamanju was almost covered the hills and its a most cherishing moments that feels good. We spent some time there at the top. And the funniest thing, out of us SEVEN, only 4 of them reached the top. :D :D 3 of them were just below 500mtrs. Guide told us that its time to move down. Otherwise elephants, wolf, fox will come and haunt us. Going down was not easy. As we slipped in grasses. we could see hot elehants dung, resting areas while coming down. We came down at 7:15Pm and it was too cool. (16*c). We came at room at 8:30PM and had our food. After that we had decided to go for a ride to Anayirangal dam. But when we turned to the road where the destination is, people there stopped us and said "Oru komban irangiyittundu..ipo avide pogunnathu kuzhapama ennu"..which means a mighty elephant is there at the dam which can be dangerous. So, we came back to the room. Almost everyone was tired and sleepy after a great trekking.
