Kerala , a state that knows no boundaries to amaze a person . After already visiting Munnar , I couldn't stop myself from visiting the other wonder of Kerala . And so it all happened . Took a flight again and after few hours I was back at the Kochi airport, one of the most beautiful airports of India.
Before boarding the flight I had my arrangements for transportation and the reservation for house boats of Alleppey already done by a tour company. One can choose the tour company of one's own choice and there are a plenty to choose from depending on the budget and the number of days one wants to spend.
You can either choose a private boat where you can be alone with your family or you can share it with others depending on the budget. Since I and my brother were the only ones so we decided to rent the whole boat for ourself . And guess what the decision turned out to be amazingly good. It did cost us around 12K for a single night but it was worth it.
The very first day we decided to rest in Kochi itself so that the next day we can be on our way to one of the most luxurious lifestyle Kerala has to offer. One can choose from a variety of hotels just outside the airport. One does not need to pre book it even.
On the next day , as the sun started to rise we got ourselves ready for the trip. The allotted car arrived and the driver was really friendly . One of the best things about Kerala is that people are friendly and no matter how small a city is, it's absolutely clean. On our way it was just a pleasure for our eyes with all the greenery all around.
It did take a few hours before we could reach our destination and we arrived around the lunch time.
When we arrived at our destination we were taken to our house boat and well ; words won't be enough to describe how beautiful the interiors were.
As soon as we arrived and freshened ourselves , we were presented with tea and snacks. And then it was there we came to know that we even had a private chef for ourselves.
Then the lunch was served and well .. food has never been better than this; ever before. Simultaneously the boat started it's trip around the blackwaters and it was so calm and soothing to be in a landlocked water area.
On our way we were taken to a local fishery where we could buy various kinds of fish or prawns or crabs and it would be prepared by our houseboat cook for us in Keralean style for our dinner.
As soon as we bought the crabs and prawns for our dinner, the boat started it's journey again in the beautiful blackwaters. And as the sun began to set, everything just became even more mesmerizing. To protect us from mosquitoes a net was done all around.
The boat came to a stand still in a secluded place where we would be staying for the night. Secluded yet comforting.
And then the dinner was served. Even today my mouth starts watering at the pics of food. It was such a yummy meal.
We slept in the houseboat and in the morning we were taken back to Kochi. And since our flight was in the evening we decided to roam around Kochi. We were lucky to be with the driver who was so good that he helped us in sightseeing around Kochi even though it wasn't included in the package.
Though there aren't many things to do in Kochi but in case of spare time do visit the Mangroves. One can hire a boat and take a round around a similar landlocked area.
