1. Mumbai Cha Raja:
One of the oldest pandals to organise the festival, it was established in the year 1928. It is said that this was the mandal which first popularised the culture of bringing in large glorious idols of Lord Ganesha for the festivities.
2. Raja Tejukayacha:
The Tejukaya Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal was formed in the Tejukaya building, a prominent landmark in the Lalbaug area of Mumbai. It was established in the early 1950s by a group of enthusiastic individuals who came together to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with great fervour and devotion.
3. Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani:
The Chinchpokli Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal was founded in 1920 by a group of 20 to 25 men at Chinchpokli. The festivities were inspired by the freedom struggle that was followed in India during that time.
4. Rangari Bandak Chawl:
Ladka Lambodar is name of the Rangari Badak Chawl Ganesh. The Rangari Badak Ganpati Idol is made by sculptor Ram Sarang. Rangari Badak Chawl Ganesh Utsav Mandal was founded in 1938. Please visit this page for more informatiion and pictures of Mumbai's most famous and Best Ganpati Idols.
5. Kalachowki Cha Mahaganpati:
Kalachowki Cha Mahaganpati holds a special place in the hearts of Mumbai's residents and is an integral part of the city's religious and cultural landscape. It continues to be a symbol of devotion and faith for countless people.
6. Lalbaugh Cha Raja:
The mandal, formerly known as 'Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Lalbaug was founded in 1934 at Lalbaug Market by fishermen of the Koli community. The 'mandal' was founded because of a vow (Navas) for construction of the present Lalbaug Market at its existing place. The marketplace at Peru Chawl was shut down in 1932. Hence, the fishermen and vendors who used to sit in the open place vowed to Ganesha to create a permanent place for their market.
7. GSB Seva Mandal:
GSB Seva Mandal represents the Gowd Saraswat Brahman Samaj. This Ganesh mandal was established in the year 1951 on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami. Some of the members of this community who were working in Kamala Mills came together to form a team of individuals who could arrange for funerals & related rituals under the banner of GSB Seva Mandal. This idol has been adorned with 69 kg of gold and 336 kg of silver.
