Day 1

So, your favourite day of the week is here and you are contemplating various options to spend it. The typical Sunday of any Mumbaikar is incomplete without visit to a mall, watching a movie in theatre, relaxing at coffee shop or eating in a fancy restaurant and of course, the famous Nariman point, Worli seaface, Girgaum Chowpathy, Juhu beach and so on. Many a times, while planning our Sunday, we cancel half of the places thinking it must be super crowded. So, if you really want to get out of your home but spend a quiet and peaceful Sunday in Mumbai, there is a hidden place in Mumbai. It is called Gorai Beach, which is accessible by a ferry from Borivali and you can also drive through road via Bhayander. Start the journey from your place at such a time that you will reach the beach at 4- 5 pm and enjoy the sunset. The best part about getting your own vehicle (car/bike) is that you are allowed to take it inside the beach upto the water. Once inside the beach, you have two options, either park your vehicle on beach and enjoy or go to Dariya Kinara beach facing resort. If you choose the resort, there is a free parking available inside its premises. There is another approach road towards this resort other than the main entrance of Gorai Beach. This is a short route towards this resort and another resort named Pixcy Sea Resort, but the road is somewhat in bad condition and narrow. You have to be extra careful with the oncoming vehicles. At Dariya Kinara resort, they have tables facing the beach and sunbathing chairs, where you can enjoy the beautiful sunset view. The food is average and pocket friendly, the only dish which I eat here is classic omelette sandwich. If you order tea and coffee, it will be served in flask with small size disposable cups. This quantity is more than enough for group of 4. Kindly note that serving time is also very slow and need patience. You are also allowed to bring your own booze but with some extra charges (not sure of the price range). This location and overall ambience will surely give you Goa vibes. So, to sum it up, you can spend a relaxed Sunday in Mumbai away from the hustle bustle and be freshen up for your Monday blues.
