1. An early morning cycling trek to Kanheri Caves, Borivali
Reach the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali, early morning by around 7 am and rent a bicycle to go all the way upto the Kanheri caves, dating back to the 1st century BC. The 5 km cycling trek along the forests will rejuvenate your mornings and will give you a never forgetting experience. People residing far from the northern suburbs can catch the morning local to Borivali and its a 100 metre walk from the station(E).
P.S. The park is closed on Mondays.
2. Talk to the Arabian Sea in solitude @ Priyadarshini Park, Napean Sea Road
A 20 acres of lush green park along the sea is what defines PDP(commonly called). It offers a breathtaking view of the malabir hill high rises in its backdrop along with a rocky beach and a beautiful park. Although a bit crowded on weekends, you can enjoy hours of uninterrupted bliss along with untrammelled sea, sun and wind!. It also boasts of a 400 m standard olympic track where Farhan Akhtar toiled for his Bhaag Milkha Bhaag preparations!
You can reach there by hiring a taxi from Grant road/Mumbai Central stations.
Walk up to the Hanging Gardens atop Malabar Hills from PDP to get this view
You can literally walk up to these twin green heavens- Hanging gardens & Kamla Nehru park from PDP. Its an uphill climb so you may prefer a taxi ride. The beauty of the place is the amazing calmness it offers and you can literally have a bird's eye view of the Queen's necklace! Lying besides the tower of silence, its a place to spend a windy evening as the park remains open till 9pm.
3. Mid-night cycling across South Bombay (SoBo)
A number of mid night cycling trips are being organized across the SoBo area which provides an exhilarating view of the architectural beauty of the place, its gothic architecture as well as a traffic free experience(a bliss in itself in Mumbai). The trips usually start from Marine Drive where the riders assemble have refreshments like tea/coffee and then set on the experience of a lifetime. You can cycle all the way to Bandra too with amazing night views of the sea links and high rises of worli. The usual cost of the trip is around 1000/- which includes the bicycle rental and refreshments.
4. Immerse yourself in an evening nature trail of Powai-Hiranandani
You will often find Mumbaikars connecting themselves with the shopping galleria, cafeterias and high rises of Hiranandani township appreciating the architectural beauty and grandeur of the place. however the area abounds in natural beauty with 5 tastefully designed parks including the one by the lake. The most vibrant being the Nirvana Park, touted as the most spacious and attractively landscaped park in Mumbai. It has got a beautiful oriental theme with lanterns, machaans, rivulets and what not. Everything you need to sooth your senses and forget about being in a metropolis with some 20 million people! The park remains open till 8 pm which means you can also spend some quality time gazing the moon.
Apart from this, Powai has the Heritage Park, ideally suited for evening walks and stroll with high rises dotting it on its periphery. Then there's a Forest park which is tough to distinguish from a fully developed forested area during monsoons. Then there's the evergreen Powai lake which is a great place to walk and immerse yourself in the natural beauty.
5. Heritage walk across the Bandra Fort to get a glimpse of the Maximum City
If you are still planning a bandstand trip to catch a glimpse of Mannat and Galaxy apt. then take a break. Usually crowded on weekends and evenings for people jostling to walk on the promenade, the place has a romantic aura on Sunday mornings, when its devoid of people! Roam around the promenade like your private abode, sip a coffee (two choices, Barista n CCD with awesome outside sitting ambience as if in Goa), walk up the terraced gardens which remain green throughout the year. A small climb up the Portuguese fort built back in the 1600s to get a view worth your early morning wake up!
