So let your wanderlust take you to places you haven’t explored this year!!
Here we go with our 5 best places to visit in 2019 on a budget:
1. GOA
I had to start with this everyone’s favourite destination! Goa has never been perceived as a budget destination owing to the various luxurious beach resorts! But guys, have you heard about AirBnb and homestays. AirBnBs have become everyone’s favourite these days. You can book a place at as low as 1000 INR. If its a big group, you can easily rent a villa or a bungalow with a pool not shelling out too much! There are some beach huts for 500 INR but we wont recommend staying in those due to hygeine issues!
If you plan in advance, you can book train tickets at low cost (Two tier, air conditioned, sleeper is 1,540 rupees). There are various options like Konkan Kanya, Karnali Tejas express etc. Alternate option is to travel by bus whicb will be about a 16 hours journey from Mumbai!
Best time to go: Monsoons or Nov- January
Ideal stay: 3 days
2. HAMPI
This is one fabulous place for the history lovers and one of the budget friendly and pocket friendly holiday destinations in India. You can relive the Vijayanagar history just wandering about Hampi or maybe relax on the huge boulders to have an aerial view of the place. If you want to experience the Hampi Utsav, you got to visit it in November.
Hampi has become every backpacker’s getaway these days.
You can easily catch a bus from Mumbai to Hospet for 100-1500 INR. Hampi is about half an hour away from Hospet and a rickshaw ride might cost you another 200 INR. There are various budget stay hostels in Hampi for prices as low as 500 INR.
This is one destination that we want to visit this year!
Best time to go: October to February
Ideal stay: 3 days
3. GOKARNA
Gokarna has become very popular these last few years. Its also called the Mini Goa, adorned by the colourful shacks and the hippies who visit this place. This is a less crowded place and a perfect destination if you are looking to seek some peace!
There are 2 direct train(s) from Mumbai to Gokarna. These trains are Maru Sagar Express and Matsyagandha Exp etc. The minimum time a train takes to reach Gokarna from Mumbai is 9.5 hours. This would again cost you roughly about 1500 INR.
Gokarna is another backpacker’s favourite destination, so you will find a lot of budget friendly places near Om Beach and Kudle beach which will approximately cost you about 500-1000 INR. If you stay in hostels, the stay will be very cheap and these hostels have a lot of fun activities going on everyday!
Best time to go: October to March
Ideal stay: 3 days
4. Udaipur and Jaipur
The City of Lakes and the Pink city are one of the most sought after destinations for every traveler! Intricate carvings and beautiful Havelis, Udaipur and Jaipur would definitely be on everyone’s bucketlist!
If you plan in advance, you can book train tickets which are as low as 1200 INR, any day better compared to the flight ticket which is atleast 4-5k INR one way! Udaipur and Jaipur have a variety of budget friendly hostels which are near the lake and organise various day tours and other activities for the travelers. Stay in a hostel could cost you about 500-1000 INR depending on where you stay. There are also good hotels which give you a nice ambience at a low cost.

A growing hub among the visitors, Tarkarli promises several natural wonders and marvels.
