If you stay in Kolkata or nearby areas, Mukutmanipur in Bankura district of West Bengal can be your weekend destination. It takes around 5-6 hours by car from Kolkata to Mukutmanipur. The place is located at the confluence of Kumari and Kangsabati river. There is a dam, which is the second largest dam of India, adjacent to it.
We started our journey from Kolkata at around 6 o'clock in the morning and reached Mukutmanipur by 12. We had a booking at govt. guest house. You can easily book hotels if you wish to spend night from the govt. website. We had our lunch from the guest house itself. It was super delicious. We decided to go for a boat ride. It takes 100 RS per person. If you wish to go for a private boat ride, you can opt for that as well. The charges will be different for the same. The scenic view of this place is really amazing. The boat ride consists of visiting a deer park and a Shiv temple( parasnath temple). It will take around 3 hours in the boat . We got to see the sunset during the boat ride. It was so mesmerizing. After the boat ride we checked out the local markets and mela. We bought few stuffs made by local people. We had our dinner at night and left for Kolkata on the next morning.
