So while roaming around in USA in 2019, my brother took us to this sweet pretty island in michigan's lower peninsula region.
The unique thing about this island is that there are no cars allowed there. One can walk or cycle around the island. The entire periphery is around 8kms and uts fun to cycle there. For older people carriage option is available giving a royal experience.
There are various activities available for all ages.
We can take a picturesque click on arch rock.
Just cycle around the island and enjoy the breezy weather of lake huron.
Visit the grant hotel by carriage for some luxury pleasure.
Conquer the mackinac fort.
Must try is the famous fudge on the island. Famous one is Murdicks fudge but do try other shops as well.
There is one butterfly sanctuary too but couldn't get time to visit it.
How to reach- from mackinac city hourly ferries operate to and fro. There are two kind of ferries Star one and sheplers. I think sheplers is cheaper option but frankly speaking there is no difference in between two. It takes 15mins to reach the island.
Two way trip costs around 25$ per person.
For stay- One can stay at grant hotel or 2-3 other options on island but thats way too costly. I would suggest come back to mackinac city and stay comfortable at cheaper n better options. In mackinac city there is one beautiful lighthouse where one can enjoy sunset by mackinac bridge.
Cycles are available on hourly basis and cheap.
