Around 56 km from meghalaya lies kongthong commonly known as whistle or singing village.
Kongthong, located in 12 shnong on the way to sohra, east khasi hill.
Since time immemorial, a mother composed a tune, when each child born called" jingrwai ïawbei".
Each inhabitants have unique tune to communicate each other.
It's unique practice have been addressed in Parliament for protection of indigenous practice.
On the next day we trek down to another village of Kong thong, having a living root bridge.
Ancient trail of oranges farm on both sides .
A long difficult trail but a sweet pleasant taste of khasi oranges giving by a sweet kind older women, one among the oranges farmer soothing our thirty away.
Half an hour we reach the huge big ficus tree with its wide branches on all the sides, forming a living roots brigde, which is about 200 or more year older. These bridge form a network of transportation to the villager and connect one villages to another.
heading back to the village, the third day.. We stay in a bamboo hut, usually used by framer to stay during busy seasonal farming when they are late to travel back home.
But, the hut is quite attractive , simple khasi traditional hut, very cozy and pleasant View on the hills and villages. Self cook foods . It's provide travellers like me a long last memories, far away from crowded ,busy, hectic work of life. Here , every morning a view with a cup of coffee is amazing. It's a peace of mind and a memories to cherish.
