This one is about our recent rip to a trip to Meghalaya, a land of misty mountains, cascading waterfalls, and lush greenery as far as the eye can see. Known for its breathtaking landscapes, Meghalaya was an unforgettable adventure at every turn. From the serene Chandubi Lake to the mystical Maphlang Sacred Forest, and from the awe-inspiring Krangsuri Falls to the iconic Living Root Bridges, our trip was packed with excitement and wonder.
Day 1- Guwahati - Chandubi Lake
So, our trip kicked off in Guwahati, and our first stop was Chandubi Lake. Picture this: gliding on a boat across the calm waters, with the sun starting to set. It was so peaceful; we just soaked in the tranquility by the lake. We had a wonderful stay at mud hut & for dinner we had the regional local cuisine & it was the yummiest meal on this entire trip.

Day 2- Chandubi to Maphlang Sacred Forest
Next day, we drove through forests and hills to reach Maphlang Sacred Forest. We saw Elephant Falls on the way, which was jaw-dropping! The evening? Oh, just chilling in the forest, taking it all in. We had this amazing & the coziest homestay & Our host Ms. Phyllari was gracious enough to bring homecooked meal for dinner.
Day 3- Maphlang - Cherapunjee
We went deeper into the wilderness today, hiking through Maphlang Forest and following the David Scott Trail. And guess what? We stumbled upon the mighty Noh Kalikai Falls. Nature's power, right there! First we got to see this amazing forest which is very sacred for the locals. Just before entering the forest is a Monolith. The standing monoliths are dedicated to the male ancestors while the flat ones, are dedicated to the women. And, The David Scott trial was a 3 hour hike with the most incredible view.
Our guide was the coolest, as he shot some amazing pictures of us here & told us so much more about their life back in Maphlang!

Day 6- Mawlynnong - Dawki - Krangsuri - Shillong
We saw the stunning Krangsuri Waterfall and the clear waters of Dawki a day filled with awe and wonder! We were literally blown away by the beauty. Dawki is On the border of India and Bangladesh. The boat ride in Dawki is rather unique as it goes along the international border which cuts the river and usually the tourists from the neighbouring country out number the people who throng to Dawki.
Krang Suri Fall welcomes visitors throughout the year, each season offering its own experience. While tourists enjoy the magic of every season, late summer emerges as the ideal time to explore Krang Suri.
We spend the rest of evening exploring the local market of Shillong & enjoying the street food.

Day 7: Shillong - Guwahati
Travelling in Meghalaya is easier if you have your own private cab. And it can get a bit tricky for vegetarians but if you look real hard you can get lucky and can also find Jain food! And just like that, our trip came to an end. We had an evening flight from Guwahati. We said goodbye to Meghalaya's beauty and flew back home, carrying memories that'll last a lifetime.
