About Mawjymbuin Cave: Mawjymbuin cave is a 209 m high natural cave that is made up of calcareous sandstones. The most fascinating reality here is the Shivlinga is frequently bathed in water issuing from a stalactite formed like a cow's breast.

About Sacred Forest: Mawphlang is a town enroute from Shillong to Cherrapunji. The sacred forest is spread over 78 Hectare of land with whatever preserved.

How to Reach Mawsynram Village from Delhi

Delhi to Mawsynram Village distance is: 2059 kms around – It will take around 40 hrs you to reach there from Delhi

The Best Way to Reach Mawsynram from Delhi

Delhi to Guwahati Flight: Delhi to guwahati Flight (2:20 hrs) – After reaching Guwahati, you can enjoy the points like: Kamakhya Mata Mandir, Kaziranga National Park, Guwahati market etc.

Now you can hire the taxi from here to reach Shillong or to visit different places in Cherrapunjee. Guwahati to Shillong distance is 98 Kms and it will hardly take 3 hours to reach and roads are too awesome so you will enjoy the whole journey while sitting in the car.

Note: We must advice you to keep bread butter or something for vegetarian people because the non-veg food is much better here.

How I reached:

Flight Delhi to Guwahati – After reaching Guwahati, we explored kamakhya mata mandir and Guwahati market and we stayed one night here. Then we hired a taxi for next 10 days to explore everything there.

Taxi Guwahati to Shillong distance – 98 kms around

If you are coming to Mawsynram Village so I will suggest you to stay one night in Guwahati or Shillong so that you can enjoy these places as well.

Taxi Shillong to Mawsynram Distance: 60 Km around.

Cost to reach Mawsynram Village, Cherrapunjee from Delhi: (By Car) Taxi or Private Car

Private Car Price to Mawsynram Village: It will cost you between 50000 INR to 60000 INR from Delhi to Mawsynram Village, Cherrapunjee.

My Experience:

It was a great experience. I would say the drive is little hectic because it will take around 40 hrs to reach mawsynram from Delhi. We were 2 families and we reach Guwahati by flight then we hired a taxi for next 10 days. This place is total green and you can enjoy here at every 1 km. Cherrapunjee is full of nature, scenic points & waterfalls. Mawsynram village is also known for the wettest place on earth.

Though, I covered too many places but still a lot more to see in Cherrapunjee.

Best Time to visit:

I visited this place in August’19 hence it was a pleasant weather there and I will recommend to visit in rainy season so that you can enjoy the beauty of Cherrapunjee & sohra.

About Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya:

Cherrapunji, Sohra is a subdivisional town (Recommended Area) East Khasi Hills area in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It is the conventional funding of ka hima Sohra (Khasi tribal kingdom).
