Detailed Itinerary for a trip to Meghalaya for 7 days:
Guwahati - Shillong

Shillong - Cherrapunji
Enroute, you can stop over at the pretty Elephant Falls.
The route from Shillong to Cherrapunji is very beautiful with some amazing views of the mountains. Enroute, you can try zip lining to set your adrenaline rushing as you go sliding down a rope between two mountains. The ziplining in Meghalaya is one of the best in the country, with its gorgeous placement and descent over lush green mountains.
Nohkalikai Waterfalls Visit
Tried 'caving' ever? Meghalaya has some of the world's most magnificent caving networks, and today, you can head to one of those. It will be quite an experience as some of these are low at places, and you have to crouch, slither, walk, adventure your way through these caves. Krem Liat Prah is one of the known longest caves located in Meghalaya with a total length of approximately 31 km.
Then you should visit the Nohkalikai Falls - India's tallest plunge waterfall and arguably the most photogenic as well. It falls from the top of a cliff to the base without a single break over the rocks. In the background, are the mountains and a wild, virgin jungle and it makes for a very exciting trek from the top of the mountain down to the falls. The sheet of water collects at the base in a small pool that is amazingly blue, and on a warm summer day, it is a lot of fun to sit with your legs in the water or swim in the shallow areas.
Living Roots Bridges Trek
Today, you can trek to one of the most fascinating and extraordinary natural sights in the country - the Living Root Bridges . These bridges are a set of natural bridges formed by barks and trunks of trees that lie on either side of a stream.
Total time to go and return: 5 hours
It is a beautiful trek, and in your quest to reach there, you will pass through small pretty villages, past narrow streams, and a jungle. You shall also cross a rope bridge, below which lies one of the bluest natural pools you shall ever see.
Cherrapunji - Mawlynnong
Heard of Mawlynnong? Asia's cleanest village. The village takes great pride in its cleanliness and you won't see even a leaf on the road. Mix with the villagers, eat lunch with them, climb up a tree house, sit on a hill, watch the magnificent views and take loads of pictures! Mawlynnong is beautiful.
From the top of the tree house, you can even see Bangladesh and spot shooting stars! ????
Mawlynnong - Dawki - Shillong
Today, you can drive to the Dawki bridge over river Umngot. The river is crystal clear and you can see through the surface from the top of the bridge as well. It flows between India and Bangladesh and is a major tourist attraction in Meghalaya.
In the evening, head back to Shillong, and explore some more cafes and pubs in the area.
Shillong - Guwahati - Departure
End your trip today and drive back to Guwahati for taking a flight back home with loads and loads of beautiful memories of the scenic state Meghalaya!
