The resort is located away from main Matheran and very close the Charlotte Lake. We chose this resort since we wanted to stay away from the chaos. The horse guys will also charge you more stating that it is very far from main market. The place is nice, quaint and well made. The staff is friendly and courteous. The food options are limited and they don’t serve alcohol. They also insist to have dinner only in their dining area. The dining room has a big table to accommodate approx 20 people and you feel like having a family dinner (only difference is that here they are strangers!)
The room that we booked was heritage room and we were not aware that it was the only room at the backside (looked more like servant quarter of the bungalow). All other rooms are in the main building. Since we like places which are not mainstream so it was not an issue for us but read a few reviews where people felt left out and that’s obvious. The room was spacious and windows opened directly into the forest from where you can see the sunrise.
Overall a good stay with no network and in middle of the jungle and very near to charlotte lake. Would recommend to book heritage deluxe rooms if you want to stay in the main building.
