Prashar Lake Trek: A perfect weekend trek in just INR 2500/-.

About Prashar Lake:

Duration: 1N/2D.

Trek Distance: 8kms ( One Side).

Lake Altitude: 8,960ft.

Base Camp: Baggi Village

Prashar Lake is situated in the district Mandi of Himachal Pradesh. it is a high altitude lake with a very beautiful floating island. this floating island moves in all directions in the lake. The lake has a floating island in it and it is said to be unclear how deep it is, with a diver not being able to determine its depth.

It is believed that Sage Prashar meditated on the banks of this lake, That's why it is named By Prashar Lake.

This Is How I Completed My Trek:

Recently i completed my prashar trek. I've booked my volvo from Delhi to Mandi. Next morning I reached Mandi and from there took a local bus to Baggi village after around 2hours journey i reached Baggi village.

I booked my stay with " Krishna Prashar Camps". they've their own cafe and a Homestay in baggi. they received me at baggi Bus Stop and here after breakfast i started my trek from baggi. it was a 8kms trek through the dense forest. Trek trails are steep but also easier to beginners.

This trek has very beautiful "Dhauladhar Range View". when i was trekking, half trails were completely covered with full of snow. it was an amazing experience I've ever had. trek tooks 4 hours to reach the lake and lake was so beautiful as i expected. worth place to visit after a very steep snowed trail trekking.

After 4 hours of trek we reached at prashar lake. spent almost an hour at the lake side cafe. visit the prashar rishi's temple. took a lot of pictures and we came back to our campsite where we stayed for a night.

Campsite was so pretty and cozy surrounded by with high snow capped mountains.

we're chilling there at the bonfire, had snacks and after dinner we slept in our camps.

Next morning after breakfast we trek down to the same baggi village.

How to reach Baggi village:

First you need to reach Mandi from Delhi. You can book you bus online from Redbus it’ll cost u around 1000-1200/-.

From mandi take a local bus to “Baggi Village” which is around 40kms far away from Mandi. It’ll cost you around 50/- rs.

Or you can take a taxi from mandi if you are traveling in a group it’ll also cost you the same in per person.

Also you can reach Prashar directly from Mandi:

There are some direct buses from mandi to Prashar Lake in the morning. if you are not interested in trekking so much you can take direct bus to Prashar Village. You can take the direct buses to reach the lake.

Best time to Visit:

In Winters: (December - February) the place is almost freezing during the winters covered under a thick blanket of snow.

In Summers: (September - Nov.)
