Manali is a well-known hill station where every travel freaks wants to go to find solace. But if you think only Manali is a perfect getaway for breath-taking scenic views, you must be slightly wrong. Because when it's about defining the beauty of Manali in one picture, nothing can do it better than the Nagar Castle.

Nagar Castle is a historical museum built in 1460 A.D. by Raja Sidh Singh. This museum was then turned into a heritage hotel and now run by the Himachal Pradesh tourism department since 1978. Naggar castle is just 24 km away from Manali, and it only takes a drive of 40 minutes to reach this classy wooden hotel cum museum.

Open for visitors

It's not mandatory that you need to book a room here. It's open to all visitors with a nominal ticket fair; you can explore this fantastic man-made building from the older era.

Best shooting location

It's amusing that Naggar Castle has been the director's choice as a shooting location. Films like Jab we met were shoot here, a Punjabi song named "ishq tera menu" starring Nusrat Bharucha. When I visited there, I spotted Ashnoor Kaur, who was shooting for her television serial, "Patiala Babes".

Its ambience is nostalgic

No matter how modern we are, visiting Naggar Castle will take you to an old era of wooden homes. Whole Naggar Castle is the best showcase of wooden walls, wooden flooring, and stairs. It's divided into two parts the upper part has rooms and an open area, while the lower part is turned into a museum.
