As soon as the the summer onsets, people flock to hill stations to escape the blazing sun. Be it a family trip or a honeymoon, the most sought after destination for a perfect holiday is Manali. It is a budget getaway for the North Indians, especially for the people hailing from Delhi or nearby areas.
I recently had a chance to visit this beautiful hill station with my friends. It was a three day trip and I being a foodie, explored the authentic and multi cuisine restaurants in Manali.
So before starting my journey like a typical informed traveller, I web searched about the must visit restaurants and cafes which had already been explored and reviewed. I made a point to not visit the overrated cafes mentioned in most of the articles on web and to totally rely upon spontaneity during the course of my stay.
We checked in at the Hotel Manali Heights, which is at a walkable distance from Old Manali and Hidimba Temple.
Since it is nested at a prime location, it makes an ideal accommodation choice for those who seek to explore the town.
We pre-booked our breakfast and dinner for our entire stay at the hotel. The only meal we ate outside was Lunch.
The hotel had buffet system for both Breakfast and Dinner which provided a variety of options for us to try. It mainly had Pan Indian, Italian and Chinese cuisines.
Below are the breakfast and Dinner platter from Day 1, 2 and 3.
Day 1
Breakfast : Butter Cookies, Vegetable Sandwich and a cup of Tea.
Dinner : Egg curry, Rice, Naan and Salad.
Day 2
Breakfast : Veg Cutlet and Sandwich.
Snacks : Cold Coffee
Dinner : Veg Soup, Cheese Mushrooms and Veg Nuggets.
Day 3

Our quest to find the authentic Himachal food brought us to Mall Road. Searching for an authentic, yet peaceful cafe was like finding a needle in a haystack. All the cafes, restaurants were jam packed with people. Finally after strolling around for an hour we were lucky enough to find a place which wasn’t crowded. It was a cozy and secluded food joint. We tried Mutton Momos, Soup and Veg Thukpa. I also tried the veg momos from the street vendor at Mall Road and it turned out to be the best I had till date.
This beautiful restaurant caught our attention due to it’s vibrant and colourful ambience. It is situated at the main road which makes it quite accessible and easy to locate.
If you’re inclined towards Italian cuisine and is willing to give a treat to your taste buds, this restaurant would be a perfect choice for you. I highly recommend their special Woodfire Pizza.
