Situated in The Great Himalayan National Park,Sainj valley,Shangarh is the most promising place I have ever been in is a UNESCO world heritage site and accessible by road all around the year and yet away from all crowd and dirt like other tourist destinations.
Shangarh is surrounded by Snow clad Mountains,and lush green pine trees,this place is known for its beautiful huge Meadows and shanchul Mahadev Temple.
Around 7 months back when I visited this place first time,I really got awestruck by its beauty and I literally skipped a breath.Something is magical here which made me to come again and again.
WHAT TO SEE
Though when you are at this place,you wouldn't feel to go anywhere else still there are few places which can be covered.
1.Shangarh Meadows
It is said that when Pandavas was on their 14years Vanvas,they stayed here for sometime and created that huge Meadows and strained all the sand,so there will be no stone left.It is a smooth and a huge Meadows.
2.Mahadev Temple Situated on Shangarh Meadows this is a beautifuly wooden carved Mahadev temple,a place to worship for Himachali people.
3.Shangchul Shanghadi Temple
There is a beautiful story about this temple,It is said that people who are immensely in love and looking for shelter can come here,Shaghadi Devta takes care of them and give shelter.
4.BarShanghar Waterfall
Just a kms away from the Town this waterfall is on a little hike but a worth visit.
5.Beas River
This beautiful and clean river is just 7kms away of I can say before Shangarh,located in Sainj valley,Ropa
and there are many more water streams and villages to do a nature walk and explore this unexplored beauty of himachal.
HOW TO REACH
This place is around 500kms from Delhi,you can take Delhi-Manali volvo and get down at Aut Tunnel which is around 2 hrs before Manali,from there you can get Sainj Valley bus which is available in every 1 or 2 hour and takes 30rs,from Sainj you can get public Bus only in the evening 5pm which takes 30rs or you can go by Sharing taxi 100rs,which runs in an hour difference or personal taxi 800rs to reach Shangarh,for private taxi you can bargain with them directly.
Or you can take a personal taxi direct from Aut to Shangarh which costs around 1500rs.
WHERE TO STAY
There are few beautiful homestays around this place,Shaneghar and Teja Homestays are good for amazing view and low budget.
