Well it was our last day at Manali. And our last destination of the trip was Rohtang Pass. Its approx 50-51 km from manali. We started early in the morning around 4:45 am. Even the summer mornings were quite chilled. A day earlier we have already rented bikes. To make our trip more thrilling and to capture more serenic beauty ,we ditched four wheelers and opted for bikes.
As we started, we knew it is the most exciting journey one could have in India. The serene beauty of the snow clad mountains was binding. We did stopped at many point to capture the breathtaking view. As we were reaching the heights ,we could definitely feel the bone chilling cold. We stopped at marhi, had tea and rented gum boots ,jackets (the one I am wearing,I don't know exactly what it is called ) to make our self comfortable for enjoying snow. We should have rented that before starting our trip. We did made a mistake there, because by reaching marhi we were already freezing. After gearing up ,we move ahead. Marhi is approximately 16 km away from Rohtang. On the way we definitely had a feeling of staying there forever. We reached the view point of Rohtang by 7-7:30 am. We we're just awestruck by the view of snow caped mountains. I just stood there like that for few minutes. We didn't have the words to describe the feelings we had at that moment. After seeing snow our inner child just took over us. Skiing ,rolling ,jumping....we enjoyed to the fullest. As it was freezing and nothing to warm ourself we're lucky to find few aunties selling coffee and soup at that height. We had some soup ,warmed ourself and as we were ready to depart, it started snowing! We we're lucky enough to experience snowfall . Entirely a different experience which will stay forever in our memories. Once it stopped we got on our bikes and headed back to manali, filling our souls with adventure and thrill. And for me bike ride to Rohtang was definitely soul satisfying.
