Bored from the hectic life of the city, we 3 girls decided an impromptu trip to malpe leaving our worries and families behind in the city.
Malpe came as the destination as we wanted to go to on weekend and to beach within karnataka. I was so mesmerized to see all the pics on internet , we just ticked it off and booked the tickets and hotel.
Day 1:- Took an KSRTC Sleeper bus on Friday night around 10'o clk to reach malpe around 6'0 clk on saturday morning. we all very impressed on the cleanliness of the bus. It had stopped at bus stop for washroom which were also very clean. Most recommended.
Bus stopped at udupi. Malpe is around 4 kms from udupi
We had stayed in Paradise Isle Beach resort, had taken sea facing room.
First view of Malpe Beach from our room : pleasure to eye.
After Breakfast we had left for St Mary's Island. There are private and government operators. Right opposite the resort near gandhi statue was a private operator. it was 300 Rs per ticket 2 way. We took it and set off to St Mary's Island. Government operator is 2 kms away from malpe beach, their ticket was 250 Rs. For a larger group it would be cheaper.
Entry fee is Rs200 per person. Plastic and liquor are not allowed. Mind you they search your pockets, bags carefully. Don't try any tricks to carry it inside. carry water bottoles as it gets hot during day. Also carry eatables if you want spend more time there.
St Mary's island is known for its basaltic rock formation in a hexagonal form .

Water is so clean here:-
Please note don't try to swim in this island. There were water sports also like banana ride, zorbing, parasailing. We returned around 2 am and took lunch in Paradise isle restaurant - it was good.
In Evening we took an auto and went off to Kaup Beach to witness sunset and see lighthouse. The journey to the beach is awesome. Roads were being constructed so it was little bumpy but otherwise what a view it was, with river on one side and sea on the other side. if you go by car , start early and stop on the road to witness this.
On the way to kaup beach:
There are no words to describe how beautiful the sunset was , it was mesmerizing, scroll down to the below pics. also swimming is allowed :)
Kaup Beach:-
came back around 8 , had candle light dinner at sea shell restaurant with some nice food and bear and slept.
Day 2:- Day 2 started early with some nice beach walk and wandered on the street of malpe to try some local udupi food , so went off to malpe town to have breakfast, had appam, dosa, idli. Appam were too good, one should definitely try it.
After breakfast we rested for sometime and went to malpe beach to do parasailing. It starts around 11 o clk. there are two type of parasailing one in the air and one with dip in the sea. We took the first one and booked it for 800 rs. for 5 -10 minutes. It's an awesome experience to view it from top. I wished it could have lasted longer.
there were other activities too on malpe beach. Make sure you go early for all activities. It was sunday so it gets crowded after 12.
Evening went to sea walk .
Did sunset watching from Oh cafe on malpe beach. Wouldn't recommend for food there. it was very bad.
we had return bus from udupi of around 10 pm. Left the Malpe around 8 pm had dinner in udupi and bid farewell to malpe. It was fun filled two days on the beach.
