The glorious Sunway City in Malaysia was the brainchild of Tan Sri Dato and was created by transforming a tin mining wasteland - a journey that began way back in 1986. The city comprises of schools, hospitals, a theme park (Sunway Lagoon), a gigantic mall (Sunway Pyramid) and corporate towers.
The Sunway Resort & Spa - the flagship 5 star hotel of the group - opened its doors in 1996. The resort is beautifully designed an constructed, blending neoclassical architecture with African inspired decor, statues, domes and minarets. Here's a peek into the resort, through my lens.
The Entrance -
The entrance is imposing, with it's domes, pillars and statues
The whole place is elegantly lit up by night, adding to the splendour
The Lobby -
The lobby immediately transfers you to a different world, with its marble flooring and towering pillars. (You can literally see your face in the sparkling floor)
The Room -
We were put up in a family room, which was spacious and had a beautiful view of the city. The room comes equipped with a Handy cell phone, which has city maps, guides, unlimited data and international calling.
The Decor -
The resort has a distinct African inspiration in its internal decor - notice the Egyptian statues and tablets.
The Pool -
The pool has been exotically designed (by far my favourite area), complete with artificial waterfalls and a cave like lounge area. It's a jungle wthin itself.
It just gets better by night.
The Exterior -
An open section of the resort - dotted with a quaint pond.
The Sunway Lagoon -
The rear section of the resort opens up to the Sunway Lagoon, one of Malaysia's largest theme parks and considered the largest surf park in the world.
The Lounge -
The far end of the grand lobby extends to the lounge area. Spacious and done up with vintage furniture, it has a very 80s classic feel to it.
Oh yes, the lounge has live music round the clock.
Midnight View -
The resort is beautifully lit up by night and takes on a whole new charm
