As a 29-year-old Indian girl who loves to travel, I've been fortunate enough to visit four different countries outside of India so far, and my latest backpacking trip took me to Malaysia and Indonesia.

As a PhD scholar, I save up money from my scholarship so that I can pursue my passion for travel. For me, there's nothing quite like the feeling of setting foot in a new place and immersing myself in a different culture. From trying new food to exploring historic landmarks, every moment of my travels is a learning experience.

During my most recent trip, I had the opportunity to explore the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, as well as the stunning natural beauty of Bali with my friend. Whether we were lounging on the beach, strolling through the city, or trying out the local street food, I was constantly amazed by the sights and sounds around me.

Now that I'm back home in India, I'll be sharing my favorite moments from my trip to Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as some tips and for other travelers who are looking to explore these incredible destinations. So sit back, relax, and let's take a journey together!

Budget: 45000 (including return flights, visa, expenses)
Days: 6 days (2 countries)

In this blog I will give the breakdown of my Malaysia trip where I spent two days before moving to Indonesia.

Detailed breakdown of the trip:

1. Tickets - INR 12k (return flights AirAsia from Kolkata via GoIbibo). Booked 2 months before the departure date. Even though we moved to Indonesia from there, but we checked the return flights to India which was around the same rate.
2. Stay - INR 400 /night (via Booking.com ). Even though we booked two beds in 3-bed dorm, we got the whole room to ourselves. Also in a prime location : Bukit Bintang.
3. Sim - INR 700 (in airport shared between two of us).
4. Experiences - INR 1500 for both (Genting Highlands, Batu Caves, Local KL tour via Klook ). Got offers as well on them.
5. Visa - INR 3500 (evisa applied online through their official website).
6. Cabs - INR 300-400 per trip (we used it only from airport to our hostel and for 2-3 local distances via Grab ).
7. Food and souvenirs - We had a lot of buns, sweet items, local delicacies from food street in BUKIT BINTANG area of KL. Tried spicy sushi, mango sticky rice, sugarcane juice, local drink Cincau Susu, gimbap, seafood nasi goreng, chocolates and more. Souvenirs we got from China Town market at affordable prices.
Per person food cost was around INR 700- 1000 / day. We didn't want to bring any Malaysian currency back so we got souvenirs and chocolates based on what was left (which was quite a bit).

Hope this helps you plan your next trip. 🙂
I have attached few pictures from the trip here as well. Thanks.
