Majuli, nestled in the heart of Assam, proudly holds the title of being the largest river island in the world, a fact that fills the locals with immense pride. As I set foot on this captivating island, I discovered a land that exudes history and charm. Majuli has seen its fair share of transformations over the centuries, evolving into the paradise it is today. Legends whisper tales of its formation, attributing it to the powerful forces of floods and earthquakes in the 17th century. Can you believe it? Majuli rose from the depths of nature's embrace, offering us a sanctuary where music and culture thrive.
The Majuli Music Festival, once a humble gathering, has blossomed into a major; and highly anticipated music extravaganza in our country. It's truly remarkable how this festival has captured the hearts of music enthusiasts near and far, becoming a significant highlight on the global music scene.
Behind the scenes, the inception of the festival was a labor of love. It was the vision and unwavering dedication of Mukul Doley and Momi Pegu, fueled by the support and encouragement of local music lovers, that brought this dream to life in 2019. Since then, the festival has gained immense popularity, attracting attention from music aficionados around the world.

As I continued my journey through the vibrant festivities of Majuli, it's time to introduce an exciting element that adds a thrilling twist to the experience—the Majuli Bikers Meet. This unique gathering brings together motorcycle enthusiasts from all corners of Assam, uniting them with a common passion for the open road and the exhilaration of two wheels.
The Majuli Music Festival Ride, in collaboration with Assam Bikers, offers an extraordinary opportunity for people to embark on a thrilling motorcycle journey to Majuli. It's a chance to join a convoy of roaring engines, where the camaraderie among bikers fosters a sense of adventure and companionship. My partner and I eagerly hopped on our motorcycles, ready to embrace the road ahead, accompanied by the enthusiastic members of Assam Bikers.
Our journey began in Guwahati, and although we had intended to set off early, unforeseen circumstances caused a delay.
As we embarked on our adventure, we realized that there were two ways to reach Majuli: by ferry or by road.
The ferry route, from Jorhat's Nimati Ghat, offered a picturesque journey along the Brahmaputra River. It was a popular choice among many fellow bikers who had set off early in the morning to catch one of the scheduled departures. The ferry timings were set at 8:30 am, 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and the last one at 3:30 pm. Unfortunately, due to our delayed start from Guwahati, we realized that we wouldn't be able to make it in time for any of the ferry departures.
Undeterred by the setback, we quickly adjusted our plans and chose to take the road route via North Lakhimpur. It was a long journey, but we were determined to make the most of our time and reach Majuli as soon as possible.
As we reflect on our delayed but thrilling journey to Majuli, we realize that sometimes detours and unexpected turns can lead to the most memorable experiences. Our road adventure added an extra layer of excitement and uniqueness to our overall Majuli Music Festival experience, becoming an integral part of our personal story.
It was not until 3:30 pm, when the afternoon sun was slowly descending, that we finally hit the road.
Joined by a group of fellow bikers, we set off with a sense of anticipation and excitement. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the roads stretched out before us, illuminated by the headlights of our motorcycles. The cool breeze brushed against our faces, carrying the faint scent of the river and the promise of an unforgettable experience.
With each passing mile, the thrill intensified. The winding roads, the occasional glimpse of the mighty Brahmaputra River, added to the awe-inspiring backdrop of our journey. The sound of our engines echoed through the silent night, blending with the symphony of nature as we ventured closer to our destination.
Time seemed to lose its grip as we rode through the darkness, guided only by the flickering lights of our motorcycles. Conversations and laughter filled the air, as stories of past adventures and shared passions merged with the rhythm of the road. It was a journey that brought strangers together, forging bonds of friendship and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Finally, as the first rays of dawn broke through the horizon, we reached Majuli. The morning mist enveloped the island, adding an ethereal touch to the scene. We dismounted our motorcycles, weary yet exhilarated, knowing that the challenges and the late-night ride had made this moment even more meaningful.
