With the onset of the monsoon season in most parts of India, many national parks and wildlife sanctuaries are deciding to close their doors to tourists and visitors! This is a common measure that is taken every rainy season.

The doors of Chandoli National Park and Radhanagari-Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra are closed to visitors this monsoon.

Since the arrival of the monsoon was delayed this year, the closure of sanctuaries also got delayed by two weeks. Referring to this, forest range officer for Chandoli National Park added that, "Now as the monsoon has arrived, the decision to close Chandoli dam has also been taken, whereas the safari at Chandoli National Park will stop operating from June 15."

Reports also add that rain has already started in the Chandoli region, and that the possibility of natural calamity cannot be ruled out during this period. Keeping this in mind, all the operations for tourists are stopped here. If all goes well, the park will again open its doors for visitors from October 15.

Radhanagari- Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary has also been shut down for tourists, with the monsoon approaching. This place is famous for gaur sightings, and will again open for tourists on November 1.

Referring to this, a wildlife safari tour operator at Radhanagari-Dajipur wildlife sanctuary added that, "Since monsoon season is the breeding season for animals, and it becomes unsafe to explore forests in between mud and water as it is also the time when snakes tend to come out on roads, thereby posing a threat to humans. As such, wildlife sanctuaries are kept closed during this time to not disturb the wildlife activities." Another reason is that the off-road tracks in the forest areas get muddy, which results in jungle safari vehicles getting stuck.

Sometimes, there are more reasons for national parks and wildlife sanctuaries to stop any tourist from entering the premises. The decisions are taken by focusing on all kinds of precautionary measures.
