My one-day trip to Sula Vineyard started from Jogeshwari Lal building bus stop, Mumbai on 9th January. I boarded the bus at 9:10 PM, at around midnight the bus stopped at a Dhaba. There I ordered Dal Tadka and warm Naan(Indian Flatbread) for a healthy, delicious yet light dinner.

I reached Mumbai Naka, bus stop, Nashik at 4 AM from where Sula Vineyards is about 14 kilometers. Although Ola Cabs is available in Nashik, I decided to walk from my destination to the Sula Vineyards.

Storage Room

It had just rained in the night which had turned the climate moist and damp in the morning. The temperature was around 18 degrees Celsius with a pleasant breeze. Nashik can be described as a clean city covered with trees. Banyan trees and mangrove plants are some of the flora in Nashik.

View from Restaurant

I reached Sula Vineyard at around 11:00 PM. At the entrance, there is a huge farm where grapes are grown which is accessible for tourists. The entry ticket cost me around Rs 600 including wine tasting, Sula campus tour with a guide.

Sula Vineyard Arena

The tour started with the tourists being shown a short-documentary about Sula Vineyards which explained how its initial inception and idea started. Then after a short brief about the wine yards by our guide we were shown the fermentation tanks through which wines are made.

Then we were taken to the storage room in which wines are stored in a wooden barrel made from Teak wood for years. This gives the wine its unique and vintage taste. Next to the storage room was the wine tasting room. As its name suggests the room was for wine tasting.

Wine Storage Barrel

We were given six types of wines each of them unique and different in taste. The guide also shared with us the proper way of holding a wine glass. That is holding the glass from the bottom by our index and thumb finger. The wine tour ended after this and we were free to explore the campus. There is a restaurant upstairs with a good view of the Sula Vineyard where you can relax and refresh yourself.
