Now are the times to visit Ajanta Caves in India before it is too late

Tripoto

It was in 1997 or so we visited Ajanta Caves, hurriedly as usual. These caves were captivating and so were the paintings. Fortunately, unlike other places, we were allowed to photograph without flash with my SLR camera. There were no flash light pointing towards the statue. The caves were covered with dry grass and were natural yet dull as they were weathering.

This year in Feb, we revisited the Ajanta Caves and were pleased to see the 2000+ year old statues and paintings depicting the buddhism period. The Caves have undergone uplift in terms of facilities for tourists as well as cleanliness. Some restoration work is still on. Much more needs to be done. This reminds me of monuments of Egypt that we visited last year. Those were gigantic. Ajanta Caves more realistic. Art and architechure seems to have sprang up in many civilizations during ancient times. It is human spirit that has prospered.

These caves accessible from Aurangabad or Jalgaon. These are located in Indian State of Maharashtra. Aurangabad is well connected with air

Hats off to mobile photography that images were far better than those of 1997, as I got them.

Here is comparison between 2022 and 1997.
