Nearest beach from Pune

Diveagar is approx 150 kms from Pune and it takes about 4-5 hours to reach Diveagar beach from Pune by car. Most of the route is single lane and curvy, so you need to drive carefully and slowly. Also work is in progress for approx 10% of the entire stretch. We went in the month of December. We left for Diveagar at 6.30 am in the morning and reached at around 12 pm. We had a private car and were driving at a speed of approx. 60-70 kmph. There is an entry fees of 30 Rs for private vehicles. You can take a stop at Mulshi lake and Tamhini ghat enroute and soak in the amazing scenery. For breakfast there are plenty of roadside restaurants and then there is the famous Vitthal Kamat restaurant with an amazing view of Mulshi lake. We went during holiday season so the prices were on the higher side and also most of the resorts near the beach were either booked or highly priced. We got a room at Neel cottage for around 2200 Rs per day. The room was okay but had an amazing view of coconut and betel nut trees from our room window. The food at the hotel was delicious. We ate surmai and prawns thali with local delicacy solkadhi (made from coconut milk) as an appetizer. Beach is at a 3-4 mins walking distance from the hotel. You get an breathtaking view of sunset at the beach and can enjoy water sports rest of the time. Visit the market for locally made papads, kokam sherbet and pickles. You can have Amboli and Ghavne with chutney in the morning for breakfast. There is also a MTDC resort just adjacent to the beach, you can take a look during off season. Other place to visit nearby is Murud Janjira fort. We left for Pune at around 11 am in the morning and reached Pune around 5 pm. There was road congestion in town areas. So plan accordingly and have a safe trip. The total cost of the trip was approx 6000 rs- 2000 rs for food, 2200 rs for the hotel and 1800 rs for the fuel (return trip with a mileage of approx 17-18 km/L).
